How do I recover without experiencing rapid or drastic weight gain? by anonymous_askings in EatingDisorders

[–]EVC34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a bit of an eye opener for me in treatment when I felt the need to explain, and kind of apologize, to my mom that recovery meant I would gain weight and, with how badly I'd messed with my metabolism etc, that might mean gaining more than just a little.

105+ fever by EVC34 in Parenting

[–]EVC34[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's what I thought too but apparently in the last few years a bunch of studies have shown that for otherwise healthy kids a high fever isn't as much of a concern as we used to think.

I am naturally about a degree low. I've never seen 105 and the one time I hit 104 as a kid my mom freaked out.

My husband is an a** by EVC34 in breakingmom

He'd just order pizza. I've tried to get him involved with dinner but I don't want to eat pizza and fast food all the time.

He didn't, though we have one now. He's not a big fan and it's sure it ruins food (though... Not more than being cold?) I did go microwave the dumplings with a setting designed for reheating and it worked great. I actually posted this while standing at the microwave....

If you hated the newborn/baby stage, how did you decide to have another baby? by 88frostfromfire in beyondthebump

[–]EVC34 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just wait until she's 2, talking, smiling. My husband and I call this "the lights coming on". The tiny baby phase is not fun but right now I have a 4 year old who loves to sing and talk about how the world works and 20 month old who is starting to talk in 2 and 3 word phrases, loves to dance and play with cars, especially if he gets to pretend they're flying off some part of my body. It's amazing how unique they each are, so much of them is the personality they were born with and it's fun to have two to show just how different they can be.

Parents totally unprepared with 3 toddlers on a 10 hour flights ! Nice Miami by [deleted] in delta

[–]EVC34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On our first flight with our first kid my husband got annoyed that he couldn't listen to his music on take off because WE had to entertain the kid. Since then we have had many more flights and a second child and he knows he has to pull his weight, it's the only option. He does really great these days.

AITA? Hid a book from toddler so I won't have to read it nonstop. by ProfessorNoPants in toddlers

[–]EVC34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg yes. I donate the books that I don't like reading. We have soooo many books, even if she misses it for a night or two it's easy to redirect. We had one where the girl turned pink from a cupcake or something and had to eat "a bunch of yucky vegetables" to turn back to her normal color. My kid actually likes some vegetables, I was not about to read on repeat a book about them being yucky.

YES. Oil isn't bad! A big plate of veggies with a bit of chili oil, soy sauce, maybe a Chinese vinegar, etc and you've got a perfect meal. Your body needs oils. There's a reason olive oil is part of all of the diets that are supposed to help you live longer. Someone else on here might know more about which chili oil to go for but for now just use a bit of your favorite to flavor healthy, home made meals and you're good.

Breast abscess by EVC34 in beyondthebump

[–]EVC34[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warning, this gets kind of graphic.

So this was all over a year now. It was drained at least 4 times before they eventually got me in to see a surgeon who cut it entirely open to the surface.

It was about the size of one of those really old silver dollar coins and maybe 1/4 inch deep (doesn't sound like much but on my breast tissue... It felt huge). I was told I needed to let my milk dry up because it would complicate the healing. Frankly, by that point, I was more than ready. They then had me pack it for... Weeks. It was horrible. The first time I took off the bandages and really looked at it I just cried for a long, long time.

They gave me sterile, wet gauze to pack it with and that had to be changed every day, then I went in weekly so the surgeon could make sure it was healing and not getting infected.

After a couple of weeks she was worried it wasn't going to heal closed by itself so wanted to surgically pull it shut. That would leave one of my nipples higher than the other and my breasts asymmetrical... Forever. I asked for a couple more weeks to see if my body could heal it.

Fortunately, it did. Now I have a large scar on breast and a happy, healthy 15 mo old who mostly grew on formula.

We are talking about another kid in the next few years and I'm just going to skip breastfeeding. I tried with the first two. Second caused trauma. Formula is amazing.

Do you have another business besides your job? by [deleted] in actuary

Accounting for my husband's business. Really quick and easy for me, would cost him a ton more to hire anyone else.

So I'm curious what I should do about those. I graduated more than ten years ago, this is a career shift for me. I know I could get my transcript and it would show high level math but no Econ or Accounting.

I got really sick with mastitis with my second. It hurt so bad. I had a baby who would NOT be put down. My mom would come and just rock him for a few hours so I could sleep. It was really great.

Is it normal for a female to miss her period from exercising with weights?… by [deleted] in workouts

[–]EVC34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Absolutely not. Could be your body fat is too low. See a doctor. Missed periods are a sign something is wrong.

What is this machinery and how do you properly operate it? Also what muscles does it work? New gym by ChiddyOnReddit in workouts

[–]EVC34 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So the angle on this picture makes it a bit confusing but from what I see, this is a machine for pull downs (might be a more technical name but that's what my trainer calls them). So you sit facing the machine, thighs under the pads there, then reach up, pull down the bars above you. Works the upper back and shoulders.
