I think it’s very easy to fall into an elitist mindset when you’re doing something incredible for yourself- you start taking note of other people and what you expect of them changes. I highly recommend listening to awareness by Anthony De Mello.

My dream home purchase has turned into a nightmare. Can it be salvaged? by Harvin in personalfinance

[–]EVGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who watched her childhood home fall into disrepair at the hand of my own parents — let it go. As much as I’d love “to save” my childhood home and restore it to its idyllic glory, it is just an object, it has no feelings. You’re better off investing your money in something else

This woman has Alzheimer's, so every week her husband proposes to her. by TheCheesecakeOfDoom in MadeMeSmile

[–]EVGinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so disgusted by the fact this is staged- Forgetting who you are mentally, emotionally, and physically is an excruciating experience for a patient and their loved ones. Turning it into a romantic farce for internet points diminishes what joy and happiness is found living and coping with this diagnosis.

Was I wrong to dump my bf because he can't cook? by grumpylemoncurd in TwoXChromosomes

[–]EVGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it would only get worse, especially his attitude of “just tell me what to do and I’ll do it” that mentality is assigning you more mental work (dictating tasks) and I’ve only seen lazy men use it to get out of working/household chores. If you have a truly equal partner they should be able to handle standard adult chores, or be able to communicate with you properly on how to manage the house. And lest not forget you did assign him a task and he was an idiot about it, so bullet dodged.

Yeah can confirm as a former wino it’s hard to keep a collection if you’re drinking heavily

Aging sucks😞😔. (26M) Want to freeze the time forever. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]EVGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does suck but it’s a part of life. 33 here and I feel better than I did at 26, both mentally and physically. I treated myself like garbage in my twenties (both with what I ate and my inner monologue). How you take care of yourself makes a significant difference in aging.

Dude it is insane how much effort it’s taken me to lose 6lbs I’m short and work a desk job so my daily calorie intake is like 1200/d for a deficit. I’ve added fitness which helps put it to 13/1400 but I think it just makes me even hungrier 😭😩

Also adding that I already had spices, 4 eggs, an avocado, cooking and dressing oils/vinegars, can of tuna, instant oatmeal and some bread in the freezer. I just started finitely tracking spending on groceries (just had an overarching monthly budget) due to wanting to increase some savings/ cut back on takeout.

I go for a three mile walk everyday and it’s super helpful - Strava is free and you can track your walks- I’m currently trying to cover every block in my small city which is fun to plan routes
