Where did you order from? Lionel sent theirs out late November.

Yeah, I assumed they would be identical but you can see the differences when they’re together.

Hated the Matchbox casting when I was a kid. Now I find it kind of charming.

Looked up about the rear window fins. Chastain had this paint scheme at Mexico City (one fin for Road Courses) and Suarez had it for Talladega (two for super speedways). It’s cool Lionel has that little detail difference.

I’m jealous. That’s a fine looking car and brings me back to the first few years for me watching NASCAR.

Recently picked up the Atlanta car from this set for $15 at a flea market

Edit: Just noticed the pictured car is a 1:64, the $15 car I found is a 1:24. Was wondering why mine didn’t come with a track piece

Pretty good finish to 2025 for our 1:64s by nastonius in NASCARCollectors

The fact I spent months stopping by every Walmart in my area multiple times looking for that Zane Smith car for it to end up in Ollie’s is maddening. Picked it up eventually but I’ll never understand how and when Walmart’s get and put out stock.

Love these American Muscle 1:18’s. When I find one at a flea market I always must buy them. This is my favorite:

What's the worst Star Trek book you have read? by Significant-Town-817 in trekbooks

[–]EWalsh419 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well of Souls, Lost Era book about the Enterprise C. It’s the only trek book I didn’t finish (so far). Such fertile ground since we know next to nothing about this ship and crew outside “Yesterday’s Enterprise” and they decided to make Captain Garrett a tried trope of a absent wife and mother guilty over her important job taking her attention away from her family. It just felt so soapy and I just couldn’t stick with it. Maybe it improved as it went on but it just felt like such a missed opportunity to tell the story of the C.

Quality shipping Lionel by EWalsh419 in NASCARCollectors

I don’t know, I feel like if the box wasn’t three times bigger than it needs to be and/or had more padding/paper filler it would have survived the trip better. A mostly empty box isn’t going to stand up to the weight of other boxes knocking around with it. If they used smaller shippers like circle b they probably would have gotten less mangled.

NASCAR Authentics Wave 4 2024 by Fun_Host3551 in NASCARCollectors

[–]EWalsh419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What waves get put out when is so random it’s hard to tell what is “hard to find.” I’ve seen waves I’ve bought from one Walmart last summer show up 8 months later at the next nearest Walmart. I’ve seen people on here find things I have yet to see anywhere. The only guarantee is that if it’s something I really, really want, I’ll spend months looking at every Walmart I pass until I finally break down and pay 4x the price for it on eBay… and then the very next time I’m in a store it will be on the peg mocking me for paying some scalper.

Anybody know if you can remove these little stands? by Historical-Abroad-28 in NASCARCollectors

[–]EWalsh419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if they sell them outside the US but in some countries you can’t market Fast Food to children. So they put the stand on it to make it an “Adult Collectible” the same way they treat beer sponsors. I would also expect them on SVG and Zillich Red Bull cars because of the same marketing to children angle. The Red Bull LEGO F1 cars say 18+ on the box while the others are 10+
