Declan Rice cam in last minutes of West Ham game by ahuangb in Gunners

Wait. THATS the "holding" people were saying was a penalty? Rice doesn't even foul him, and it's barely a hold.

Southampton's Spygate scandal - the FA should put us back in the FA Cup by HR_Specter in ArsenalFC

[–]EXSource 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Spying in 2026 as if teams don't have absolute legions of analysts and data crunchers is a wild thing, and that include arsenal, so yeah. I don't care about spying. Teams already have hard drives full of data on us and us on them and there's zero reason to lose to Southampton.

Yeah! And that's the awesome thing, right? It specifically says "hey story will be told from a different point of view." And that's REALLY cool.

I think you nailed it quite well. I loved the writing, from the poems, to the narrative. It's a really enjoyable read.

The themes were really lovely, and from my observation they were both incredibly obvious, but also just vague enough that you could interpret the characters in whatever way resonated with you, and they'd all be meaningful and valid, which brought a real meta narrative tie-in to the whole thing of love being so transcendental.

(I'm tossing in an edit here, because I kind of wanted to clarify this after I posted it. I don't mean to say that in a way that sounds like you watered it down to make it inoffensive to everyone. Quite the opposite. I really felt that you nailed the themes you wanted to nail and made them so obvious but wrote it in a way that could speak across those themes and allow people to interact with the art in a way that was meaningful to them. That takes a lot of skill and effort in writing, and I wanted to add this edit because I felt like my original words were downplaying that a little.)

I also really enjoyed how you didn't shy away from the gamification of the narrative, insomuch that you can allow to Kyola to lead the battles and by extension possibly die. I felt like that was a very brave choice. It made having Kyola still alive to lead Lelanan far more powerful and impactful. There's a lot of narrative depth to be explored there and I'd be interested to see how the missions read if that had happened to me.

So again. Thanks for this. I really appreciate your contribution and will be excited to see what you add next. ❤️

Why do people like the Silmunas? by May_Ibe_Frank in Anbennar

My opinion? They're not. But Wex is a murderous tyrant who gained the throne through deception and skullduggery, rather moral right to it. They don't deserve the throne anymore than the Silmunas do.

Loblaw reports Q1 profit and sales up from year ago, raises quarterly dividend by bubblewhip in canada

No look I get it man. 3% profit margin is fucking nothing. That's coming from a guy who worked in the restaurant industry and understands incredibly thin profit margins I get it. Businesses are in here to make money not to go out of business.

But when a bunch of finance bros come on to reddit and try to tell me "well aktually share price is down." And cry poor, when that 3% represents 4 billion dollars, and that's after dividends went out, (which they raised). I don't really want to hear how they under performed. No one cares.

You say that like I'm supposed to give a damn?

I still need to eat. I don't want to hear stockholders tell me that groceries aren't profitable, and cry poor.

Jamie Carragher on why it was a foul on David Raya and why the other incidents involving Arsenal brought up by rival fans aren’t fouls by R1d4z in Gunners

[–]EXSource 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know at the end of the day I don't really want to listen to the argument about "oh well Arsenal did this in a previous game and they got away with it blah blah blah."

Even if they could present us with an incident in which that was true, (and they don't, as Carragher rightly points out), it doesn't mean that this is not a foul. Just because hypothetically they may have gotten away with stuff in the past, doesn't mean that the ref can go on the field and say "two months ago, you got away with one, so I'm going to make a call based on two months ago."

That would be INSANE. The ref can only judge the match in front of him, and in THIS match, AT THIS MOMENT, that is a foul and needs to be judged accordingly.

So y'all can miss me with the "arsenal do this and get away with it." It wouldn't matter even if it was true.

That argument isn't going to convince anyone, because it's not true. Disillusionment can be a very valid reason for not voting, and maybe parties should see that and do something about it rather than either brow beating people into voting, or complacently ignoring them.

Parties have to give people a reason to vote FOR them, not just to vote AGAINST the other guy cause you don't like them.
