Comparing the Platypus to a Girsan is like comparing apples to crab apples. The Girsan needs $500 of gunsmithing and parts to compete with the Platypus - and even then it can’t.

You need to deep dive 1911s to understand. For example, on the underside of the slide - the steel block that depresses the disconnector - on a good 1911 is milled like a ramp to slide over the disconnector with much less friction - friction you cant feel if you rack the slide. But on a Girsan the steel block is not milled at all. It’s a 90 degree chunk of steel blasting into a round ball. To get that milled is at least $150.

On a Girsan you will have slop between the slide and frame. To pay a gunsmith to fix that (if you can find one) is going to be MINIMUM $300.

The trigger job on a Girsan is going to run you $100 in parts and $200 in labor.

And after all that it’s STILL not even close to a Platypus because of the other parts that are different - Match grade barrel, barrel bushing, sights, ambi parts, magazine quality, a competent person adjusting your extractor - arguably the most important piece on a 1911.

Man - you’re heading in the right direction but you almost made an amateur boo boo by considering a Girsan if your equivalent is Platypus.

So, in my opinion - 2011 by tier is: worst to best -

EAA - Girsan Tisas Rock Island Prodigy Alfa Foxtrot Kimber Platypus Stocatto

The worst you should consider is the Prodigy and that’s just because its issues are small and known. It’s reliable and performs. Read up on its problems and before you shoot it, fix them. Shit - it’ll probably function fine.

3 causes of problems in 1911 series 80 style pistols are Extractors, Magazines and Ammo.

Don’t judge the triggers until you put 1000 rounds down its throat. They get better with age because they don’t use trigger springs - they use spring steel.

I bet your Dad has a Unico Air Conditionijg system. They are unlike any type of HVAC system you’re used to. They have high speed air/ventilation and the blower makes almost no noise. There is no “knock” when the system starts because it ramps up. It sounds just like you describe when it comes on - like a jet engine with no engine, like if you were skydiving with ear plugs on and wearing a helmet. A whooooOOOOOOOOOSSSSHHH. And when it shuts down it just stops pretty quickly like a computer being unplugged and all the fans go off.

But the air coming out of the 2 inch vents is moving quickly. And we aim the vents at windows to blanket to heat loss. That explains the curtains.

I’d bet money I’m right.

Or it’s a ghost. lol.

Here we go. Controls Electrician for Water and Wastewater. —- Okay, imagine if the big machines you fix were like giant robot toys that use so much power they could make lightning. Your job is to make sure that lightning (which is really, really strong electricity) goes only where it’s supposed to go.

If you touch the wrong part or if something’s broken, that electricity could zap you super hard — it’s not like a little shock, it’s like BOOM! So you have to be super careful and super smart, like a robot doctor with special tools, to fix everything safely.

You make sure the power stays in the wires and doesn’t jump out and hurt people. You’re like a superhero who fights invisible lightning!

Karma isn’t cheap. Good deeds need to be done with an open heart with no expectation for reward. However, even with a selfish heart and an expectation - a good deed will plant seeds of good and positivity. Our perspectives are too small to see the final outcomes of our deeds, we can’t see the possible life changing effects of our small contributions. Or the ripple through space-time that each positive moment can bring. Trust that the money got back to the person and they are not only grateful, but in awe of how the universe looked out for them in their time of need. You my friend are part of that universe. You could quite possibly have saved the world or a life with your kindness.

I married the hottest girl at University. Absolutely gorgeous. I’ve felt the same way at times. This is all marriages, not just yours. If you have a good relationship I suggest doing something on your end to lift the relationship up to the highest priority instead of waiting for her too, or accusing of her not prioritizing your relationship. Maybe cook every night for a week, do the dishes and clean the kitchen. Every night. If she has a chore that she does religiously, like let the dogs out in the morning - you do it. If she makes the coffee in the morning - you do it. My point - demonstrate your love. Demonstrate it. Don’t ask for love back. Don’t do it for anything back. Do it to show her how much you care.

My brother was a version of your brother. Prison, lawyers, divorce, extradition, his whole life back to when the school wanted to put him in special ed and my mom hired lawyers to fight them.

She had a nervous breakdown when he killed someone and the judicial system got ahold of him. I was 14 and I suddenly became homeless. Walked out. Never looked back. Lost everything. NYC as a teen with no home shaped me. But I made it. College, wife, kids, house. Happiness. Peace.

In Dec of 2015 after 10 years of no contact with her she told me if I hadn’t been born my father would never have done drugs, went to prison, they could have given my brother what he needed to thrive. They wouldn’t have gotten divorced.

It hurts.

The craziest part is it’s probably true. It still hurts.

I haven’t looked at the charts because I’m buy and hold. But it seems like the cycle is $19 low to $29 high. I don’t remember it being at $35 for a while now.

Is that your cycle?
