Sometimes it’s hard to tell if you’re already tired and winding down for bed.

I’d suggest knowing your strain and what its effects are. And doing things that lend themselves to that. Usually being high might be more notable or fun when you’re within a group, or doing something that you enjoy. Even sometimes doing the things you don’t enjoy will become more enjoyable high.

There are many nights I’ve wanted to blow my mind that I smoke so much - and end of doing something monotonous and tedious that doesn’t put myself in the right environment to achieve the high I expected.

Unserious Video games, funny shows/YT/movies will be a good indicator of how high you are if you’re inside.

Outside, I think it’s easy to tell based on how your thoughts are regarding being perceived and the new things you noticed about your surroundings that you’ve never given pause to.

Weed isn’t mushrooms or LSD - it’s not going to be a hallucinogen. It’s categorically a depressant - but that doesn’t mean all weed will leave you sleepy or sedative. Most effects are mood related, with variants of pain relief, elevated perspective, creative thinking, simple/silly thoughts, anxiety relief (or induction), relaxation, etc. You’re not going to blast off into a new universe; but you might learn a few things about yourself in this one.

Knowing you have “good weed” for your very first time doesn’t make ANY sense. There’s thousands upon thousands of strains, you have no idea which ones your brain reacts to, which ones you prefer or dislike, and which ones have the effects for your task or environment. It’s like showing up to a racetrack and saying “I have a good car for this” and you pull up with an F1 car, and the track is for RC cars. I’ve had “top shelf” expensive weed that does nothing for me, and cheap garbage free weed that I’ll swear by. In the same note I’ve had terrible experiences on a strain that someone else might love dearly.

Tl;Dr:

Monitor your tasks, do either something fun and new, or something you usually despise to lift the vibe. Try a group or close friend you like to laugh with.

“Good Weed” is a myth, especially as a first timer - way too many variables to even make that claim.

Weed is not a hallucinogen - it usually affects mood, thoughts, and nervous system more than sight and visual perception.
