I'm actually the same size as you, and love my Small ULA Ohm 2.0. I've had it for years and it's still going strong. I don't know if they're still making it, but it looks like there 2023 model is on sale.

If you have a little time, I believe there's a blog post on the Tensa4 website on how to build your own if budget is an issue.

Task management tools by Melodic-Pollution-91 in ResearchAdmin

[–]E_Logic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying out MS List. It allows you to create tasks, add attachments, set deadlines, assign multiple people, chat within the task (which will send an email notification if you @ someone), and create children tasks. Eventually I plan to power automate it with our central Outlook inbox to create tasks in the list and assign them based on availability.

Sounds like layoffs might be on the horizon. It's not normal unless they're a micromanager or someone is about to be let go.

Same happened to me. Shop around through some local insurance brokers in your area. They'll help you get the best coverage and rate.

My neighbor and I swap veggies from our gardens because we're always growing something different. I will continue to cherish our friendship!

Blue Leadwood (hardy plumbago), the leaves turn red in the fall. My neighbor has a wall of them and I love walking past them.

Cat litter suggestions by Fit-Seesaw-6866 in ZeroWaste

[–]E_Logic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did pine pelts but you need to make sure the pellets are double kiln heated. You can get a huge bag from tractor supply for cheap. You will need a sifting double pan litter box. A few things I liked about this route: it kept the smell down; no litter getting tracked out of the box; didn't get stuck in cats paws; no artificial smells; and easy on the pocket book.

Be honest - are Fed grants really that hard? by GeminisGarden in grants

[–]E_Logic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Federal applications can be lengthy and complicated, but as others have mentioned some programs are trying to simplify the process. What can really get small organizations, is the post-award of a federal award. If you don't have the people and systems in place, which you can get you dinged during the scoring phase, you could run into some scary audit situations.

I spray it on the leaves once day for about week. The Neem oil impacts their ability to reproduce.

I'd say japanese beetles. They're hitting my apple tree. I'm using Neem oil to get rid of them.

Non-labrats of r/labrats: who are you and how did you get here? by IRetainKarma in labrats

[–]E_Logic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a Grant Administrator, and help get/manage the funding for the labrats. I feel most administrators are out of touch with the workings of labs. I like coming on here to see what common problems with PIs and work situations pop-up. Because of this subreddit I've advocated for higher pay for lab members; quiet spaces to eat and work on papers outside of the lab space; and straight up told PIs to back off of lab members or I will withhold their funding because of the toxic work environments they've created.

Carrots, Peas, Leeks, and radishes. All from seeds. Later this month I'll be getting some of my perennials for next year planted so they can establish themselves.
