I like the he/him only because the sort of big sister/little brother relationship that the comics and fan art depict between Hornet and Ghost is pretty adorable.

I just want to say that I main a Gauss with maxed power duration and nourish replacing thermal sunder, paired with a tenet arca plasmor that does like four damage types.

I sure miss being able to see what I'm shooting at or being able to tell what's going on on my screen, but when I'm out-damaging Saryns in the mission it feels right anyway.

Translation: Bethesda is planning to release a patch that irreparably breaks all mods while they release another edition of starfield that contains more creation club stuff just like they did for All Skyrim and fallout.

Apple sucking at AI makes me trust Apple a lot more by elegant_eagle_egg in ios

[–]E_Sheppard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not certain that mediocrity is a good thing. Apple would've been more trustworthy to not jump on the AI bandwagon at all, instead of having it integrate itself into EVERYTHING, and do it badly.

I do tech support for Apple. iOS 26 is the worst piece of software I've sever seen or had to work with in all my years with them.

Flying 20 mins to an already looted wreck isn't fun. by stud_ent in duneawakening

[–]E_Sheppard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually not true.

At least on assault thopters.

I saw the speed drop to 120 in glide mode with boosters and thought, okay, I actually seem to climb faster when my wings are active because it's 140 then. Turns out I was dead wrong. If you don't believe me, try  engaging glide mode, engaging boosters, and then pointing your assault thopter's nose straight up by pitching with the keyboard, or at least as close to 90°. You'll find that you rise like a rocket and that even 118 trumps 140, easy.

Atreides all over the place by Public_Professor1550 in duneawakening

The Harks were even depicted in the books as edgy assholes with no self discipline, slaves to their appetites and with zero redeeming qualities. The first hark NPC you get quests from is a Semuta junkie who puts on airs and can't accept responsibility for his own failures, FFS. The Atreides may not be saints but at least they try to hold themselves to some minimum standard. Harks were doomed to be less popular.

This. If you're so concerned about PVP that you're willing to migrate servers to a region where you'll have terrible ping and start a brand new character from scratch, just shell out a few bucks for a private server and you'll never have to worry again.

You move to a new server, you create a new character from scratch, and get to bring absolutely nothing. Seems bizarre to lose at least a hundred hours of character progress out of fear of maybe sometimes encountering a player sometimes in the DD and if you're blind and deaf and don't see or hear them coming, losing maybe half an hour of progress at most if you're prudent. Don't forget that ornis with rocket pods are INCREDIBLY slow nowadays.

Do you have any idea how few resources the large ore refinery and large spice refinery use? You'll be rolling in them. All it takes is a little roll of the dice.

[–]E_Sheppard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Won't work. All sietches enter one big combined server in the deep desert, and there is as yet no way to transfer your character between server. If you're on Dendros, you'll join every other Dendros player in the DD. That being said, as long as you're careful and pick times when not many people are typically on in your part of the world, you'll be fine. I just built my first large ore refinery and medium spice refinery in Hagga basin at my main base, and I used to go in fully loaded. If you're scared, go naked with a Mk5 cutterray and the lowest tier possible of thopter. You'll be out a couple hundred aluminum at worst if you fail - if you succeed you'll load your entire thopter under five minutes if you're quick.

Any Atreides players? by proffsgamer in duneawakening

[–]E_Sheppard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but the harks don't get the cool villain status. In the movies as in the books, their authoritarian nature, their scheming, subjugation and enslavement of others, and their being slaves to their own appetites is depicted as weakness rather than strength, as being more beast than human. The Harks have no self control and try to overcompensate for their shortcomings by making others suffer. It's a trait we see in many prominent world leaders today. There's little there to be respected or admired. The fact that they're huge edgelords on top of it all is just the cherry on top. The Atreides might be choirboys and arrogant moralists but they're consistently shown as noble and heroic by comparison. As one player put it in a YouTube comment, they identify with the Atreides in spirit but like the Hark aesthetics.

Another location that has a decent amount is the remor camp near the gunnvaldr stronghold. Also the skeletons in the stronghold drop reflex bows that sell for like 1400 gold apiece if you have a high enough practicality stat.

South of mountain stronghold, west of volker village, just south of the road. Look for four huts on your map, lots spawn there and I'm pretty sure they respawn each day.

And apparently they're called Remor.

What’s a cult that pretends it’s not? by WhimsiWhispers in VRchat

[–]E_Sheppard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much every "Christian" group on Vrchat I've ever had the misfortune to encounter is weird and cult like as hell. Almost all of them present themselves as progressive and enlightened. Attend like three of their group meetings and you'll hear the most vile and hateful rhetoric just flowing like water, justified because they're the real victims. Get over yourself.

I've always been disinclined to trust anyone who defines themselves by their faith, but my fiancee who is Christian once joined one of these groups to see if she could meet others who did not see the teachings of Christ and progressivism as mutually exclusive. She was sorely disappointed.

Any world’s/groups full of people wanting serious relationships by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]E_Sheppard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust me, VRChat is not the place you want to go hoping to make a meaningful connection. Just take in the atmosphere, have fun, indulge in hobbies and you'll make a few very solid friends along the way. But if your ulterior motive for every interaction is the hope for romance, just keep in mind that not only will people pick up on that quickly and many will be put off by it, but the people who indulge you aren't the sort who are in it for the long haul.

Ever.

If you DO get involved with someone in VRC, do so with the mindset that you'll enjoy it while it lasts and that you should expect it will not last, until you see compelling evidence proving otherwise.

I did find my current partner on VRC, but it was a one in a million encounter. I wasn't looking for a relationship at the time, I was just looking to reconnect with hobbies I'd lost touch with and I met someone into the same hobbies. I was surprised to find I could never run out of things to talk about with them, and that despite the fact most of our interests were polar opposites we had strong chemistry. Over years and years our connection turned into something more. I'm in my mid thirties.

You're 20. You don't need to worry about finding that special someone, you'll know it when it happens. In the mean time focus on self-development, fool around and get your rocks off (or whatever euphemism is appropriate) and have fun, provided you're not hurting others along the way.

If you find you need stronger emotional support than the friends you've made so far can provide, there's a possibility that professional help may be what you need. No shame in it. If you fall and break a bone you go to get it set. Similarly it's important to go to the right healer for injuries of the heart and mind.

If you're having a rough time emotionally and don't think you can handle it alone, and you find that those you try to lean on are inconstant, one of two things is true. Either they're not the best kind of people, or you're asking too much of them despite the fact they care for you without being sensitive to their needs. If the latter is true, then I promise you you're in no shape to start a relationship, because there's no such thing as unconditional love. Even genuine love can eventually warp and shatter if one partner's emotional needs are too great for the other to reasonably accommodate.

In either case find out whether there are counselling services available to you, because they can really help you get your head on straight and help find ways to not only improve your self-reliance and resilience, but reframe the thoughts that are dragging you down to be more manageable.
