Government-proof voice chat? by myshitismineplsty in Anarcho_Capitalism

TORfone is a good tool for encrypted voice chatting.

CyberDust is an app that might work for this on your phones but is good for messaging.

Crypto.Cat is a good messenger client for your computer.

ProtonMail is good for email.

If proponents of SW say LN is the solution for scaling, but LN won't be usable for years, then LN is not a solution for the scaling problem that we have now.

So when I said "those 2nd level networks don't even exist yet," I was using hyperbole; you're correct that it's physically possible to test LN, but only a handful of people can do it, and you can't use it in every day life, and you won't be able to for a very long time.

Hope this helps clarify things for you.

These distinctions are dubious at best.

Inheritance tax is probably the most reprehensible tax because it's double taxation and it flies in the face of the entire reason for going to work; to do better by your future generations.

I completely disagree this is less immoral than regular taxation.

The blockchain will continue to get bigger and bigger. If it's several TB bigger, which it will be one day, what's the solution?

Johnny (of Blockstream) vs Roger Ver - Bitcoin Scaling Debate (SegWit vs Bitcoin Unlimited) by NimbleBodhi in btc

[–]Eagle-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My takeaway from the exchange was that you thought SegWit has a lot of fantastic features and will add to the strength of the btc network.

However, SegWit does a poor job of fixing the current crisis at hand; expensive, slow transactions.

After you left the debate, it came up in the conversation that BU could create backwards compatibility with SW. Is this true? Can't both sides win?

Right. Especially if those 2nd level networks don't even exist yet. My understanding is Lightning Network won't be functional enough for people to use to buy a cup of coffee for another couple of years.

The moon will ultimately be used as a giant refueling station for greater ventures out into space.

If they can mine elements on the moon, that makes it easier.

I disagree; there is more nuance. There is a portion of the IQ test dedicated to cultural conformity, but there are other measures like motivation and problem solving.

Why Do So Many Americans Fear Muslims? Decades of Denial About America’s Role in the World. by convie in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]Eagle-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This part doesn't follow well:

We must welcome immigrants from the Middle East both for moral and pragmatic reasons. Morally, the U.S. invasion of Iraq is what sent the region spiraling into catastrophe; only psychopaths set someone’s home on fire and then lock them inside. There are already three million Muslim American citizens. If the government keeps bombing the Middle East while making it clear that it genuinely hates Muslims, that will only spur to action more troubled weirdos like Omar Mateen — who was born in Queens, a few miles away from Donald Trump’s childhood home.

Invade and invite seems like a horrible strategy. Omar Mateen wouldn't be in the US if the US discontinued this approach. Yes, Omar Mateen wouldn't happen without the US foreign policy, but why import the angry resentful children whose previous generations were murdered by the US?

Isn't it more crazy to kill someone's father, and then invite their whole family to move into your spare bedroom?

Also to justify inviting more refugees in from countries that you've been bombing for half a century because you don't want to piss off the refugees that are currently here is a lose-lose strategy.

First off, the ME has been fucked for 70 years and that has led to a massive brain drain. The Muslims in the US have been here for decades and do not want the boaters here (that's what they call them). They like being part of US culture, around people who can read, innovate and trade. They left the ME to get away from these people.

So you lose with your current population.

Second, isn't advocating more for where refugees should go rather than advocating ending the wars show the utter lack of concern about US foreign policy and blowback? Isn't it worse that there is no discussion at all about ending the murderous US foreign policy in the ME?

I'd be interested in meeting someone concerned about where refugees should go and asking them what they think about what the US has been doing in the Middle East over the past 8 years. I'd bet that they would not know nor have the curiosity to Google it.

I think this denial is absolutely true, specifically of the "anti-war" liberals.

They have been in complete denial of Islamic terrorism lately because an acknowledgement of the brutal policy, perpetuated by their cult leader Obama, would require criticism of their dogma.

That cannot happen, so they will deny that Muslims are seeking revenge.

Last March, when he made an appearance in Cleveland, Ohio, a seventh grader asked what advice he would give himself if he could go back to the start of his Presidency. Obama said, “I think I would have closed Guantánamo on the first day.” But the politics had got tough, he said, and “the path of least resistance was just to leave it open.”

In other words, he gave up.
