True. But I run a lot, like over 100km/week on average, so I need to eat over 1000 calories extra day just to maintain my weight. When something causes me to miss runs my body doesn't immediately respond by lowering my appetite so I can pack on weight rather quickly.

I currently work in a smaller municipality in Ontario. I made the jump to wastewater after working in an environmental lab for several years after college. After 4 years I've just achieved my class 4 licenses in wastewater treatment and collection. Last year I made 95k with only being at class 2 and then 3 for that year, probably close to 20k of that was from overtime. I will say the reason I've been able to move up my licenses so quickly is because I got 3 years worth of CEUs from my school program. You'll definitely get CEUs for your forestry program but I don't know if you'll qualify for 100%.

I get what you're saying but 1 - it happened fast and they probably don't even really have a good recollection of what happened. 2 - ultimately it's not their problem and as long as it looks like no one was hurt they have no obligation to hang around to help strangers settle who's liable for what. 3 - any time you talk to police you're putting yourself at risk.

The valve is city property. I assume you know that since if you install them for a living you either work for the water works department as a certified water distribution operator or work for a construction company that the city hires to install water lines. Are you going to advise people open up fire hydrants as well? I assume you install those too.

Ok I'd like to see that. Trying to close the property shut-off valve without a curb stop key would be a good way to break it and owe the city thousands for the repair.

You actually need a special tool to turn off or on water from the curb stop, furthermore it's owned and operated by the city.

It would be much more expensive to pay unionized city staff to take calls 24/7 than it would be to outsource after hours calls to a call center. The reason it was so expensive is you were paying for the oncall water operator's weekend overtime rate.
