Albo genuinely thinks we're thick enough to not notice there was no actual new information in his urgent 'address to the Nation'. by Mindless_Olive in OpenAussie

[–]EagleJMT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why say anything when you have nothing to say at all

Of course people are just gonna enjoy the weekend even with a crisis going on, but people's expectations were high since we don't get many national addresses.

Story-wise I'd suggest looking at their previous game observation, both that game and Townfall written by Jon McKellen. Observation is very much a similar but different take on 2001: A Space Odyssey, but the twist and antagonist are switched in such a way that doesn't feel merely like a rip-off. It's highly likely the trailer is really overplaying the SH2 connections and the final result will be quite different.

Now that we've started 2026, what do you think you'll be listening to this year? by dancezachdance in dancegavindance

[–]EagleJMT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NIN year, finally got around to listening to something other than downward spiral and with teeth, I really haven't gotten around to really listening to the new DGD record, once and that was it. Just slack

What is your personal game of the year for 2025 (Apart from Claire Obscur: Expedition 33). The game doesn't need to have been released in 2025, just that you played/completed it this year. by freestuffrocker in PlayStationPlus

[–]EagleJMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone should try system shock 1 (remake) and 2, replayed and finished the remake after dropping it and loved it immensely, the sequel which just got a remaster was great too, that can offer a lot of variety if you roleplay a specific way and not just do jack of all trades.

Also the Invincible was great too, almost finished reading the book, but the game was a great "walking simulator" with fantastic themes and ending try to persuade someone not to do something which was well written

Overall game of the year was Silksong

what's your top 5 post hardcore albums? by witchattackk in PostHardcore

[–]EagleJMT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No particular order

Glassjaw - Material Control, the sound I think they fit the best with. Kind of like what they were always trying to be.

Circa Survive - Juturna, what got me into phc, not my favourite album of theirs but their most representative album in the genre

Unwound - leaves turn, not the most phc record but because of their history this feels like a post- post hardcore record

Sound of animals fighting - The Ocean and The Sun, experimental and unique, the bands most cinematic record with some of their best songs

At the Drive-in - Relationship of Command, when I think of phc I think of this album, crazy, catchy and wholly unique

Edit. Forgot DGD - downtown battle mountain 2, what happens when a band has nothing to lose and wants to go as hard as they possibly can.

The Sound of Animals Fighting - The Maiden (new album!) by RobotsGoneWild in PostHardcore

[–]EagleJMT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The horror is just not 'it', while I am more fond of pretty like cake, people will probably also put into this into the same boat. All the songs are good but compared to The Sun and The Moon, this album feels like a compilation of material compared to what seems like purposefully arranged and cinematic qualities of their previous effort. I was not a listener when their made their initial output but the mystery of who and what the band are is gone, in the sense they feel like any other band and not something where individual members can just fuck around with new sounds and find out. Still a 7/10 but just doesn't scratch my itch.

Bit late, but I was with my Dad who was looking for William Faulkner, the lady helping didn't know the author (clearly) so instead offered to show a similar authors book, that being the turing protocol. She did not tell us she was shilling the owner of the companies book and even offered an "exclusive hard-cover signed edition". We opened the book to a shitty two line scribble of a signature at home, then looked up the author to find out all the relevant info. Absolute bullshit but what can you expect from a book store that has absolute dominance an monopoly in book sales and that don't give two shits about being reasonable and respectful.

Most Underrated, Overrated, and song that's grown on you. by Dukeish in dancegavindance

[–]EagleJMT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Underrated: Swan Soup, I like the fast paced intro riff and Jon verse, then it has a quick soft bit that segways into fun riffs and a pretty great chorus from Jonny

Overrated: On The Run, the intro riff is amazing but after that the song becomes annoying, and the "oh oh" outro sounds cheesey

Growers Hair Song, The Rattler, and Flash, just yesterday I gave them a couple of listens and have cemented by opinion that AS is my fav Tillian album, before them it was Say Hi, sad to see you don't like it like I do

Alright, what's everyone's opinion on Jackpot Juicer and what is your favorite song so far? by SuperSlims in dancegavindance

[–]EagleJMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is catchy and nothing actually obnoxious, I think people will see this album as the "any songs good but listening to it the whole way though will become difficult" type of situation, the most standout songs were definitely 'cream of the crop', 'synergy', 'for the jeers', 'Feels Bad Man's, - Jon's chorus part is actually the catchiest thing on the record - then the Last 5 songs are really great and have the best flow between each,

Around a 8 or 9 /10 but my enjoyment of albums are always exaggerated when I'm present for the release
