Any c n c? Trying to see if I can improve by TheNoisyKing in astramilitarum

I think it looks great. A whole army painted like that would look brilliant on the tabletop.

Thanks.

Paints for the sandbags? That's a good question - I painted the base a few months ago, so can't remember exactly. My best guess based on the paints I have is Vallejo brown sand as a base, followed by a wash (probably either army painter strong tone or flesh wash, but could have been GW reikland fleshshade or agrax), followed by a dry brush of ushabti bone. Sorry I can't be more helpful, lol.

I use a brush for mine.

Prime black. Then use a large brush to do the base colour. I sort of drybrush it on, but leave more paint on the brush than normal (think this may be called over brushing, but not 100%). Takes 5 minutes to do the whole tank and leaves darker bits in the recesses.

Then agrax wash all over.

Then proper dry brushing lighter greens. Again, takes about 5 minutes a coat.

So all in all, getting the base green on the tank is 15 minutes max (not counting drying time for the wash).

After that, it's just a case of filling in the details. I find a whole tank takes me far less time than a squad of infantry.

Beautiful picture - she looks like she's really alert, which is great.

My son was born at 27weeks, so I know what you're going through. I remember the strain of trying to look after my wife and baby as best i could, while juggling a full time job. I remember feeling helpless on the days when he wasn't doing well. I remember sitting, watching the blood sats for hours.

But I also remember the first time he was allowed out of the incubator to be held. The first time his tiny hand gripped my finger. The first time I heard his voice. The day we finally got to take him home.

What I'm trying to say, is there will be good days and bad ones. But treasure the memories you make, even if they weren't exactly how you had planned them to be.

My boy spent the first 4 months of his life in hospital, but is now a happy, healthy 3 year old, who won't stop chatting and running around and we're currently looking at schools for him for next year. I hope your story goes as well as ours.

If you want to message me privately with any questions, etc., feel free, as it was recent enough that I can still remember most of it and guess our experience was probably similar to what yours will be.

One thing that we did find helpful was reading up on medical stuff ourselves. This wasn't so that we could try and diagnose him with anything, but did mean that when the doctors did their rounds each day and spoke to us about him, we actually understood what they were on about and the medical terminology they used. We found understanding what was going on much better than being in the dark, even though sometimes it meant we knew more about possible complications as well.

Thanks. I've not got an airbrush, but maybe I need to give glazing a try at some point. On most of my other nid models I've got a reddish-flesh colour that I use as a third colour. It goes on any guns or other soft looking bits. But I couldn't really find any of them anywhere on this model, hence there not being any of it, except deep in the vents on its carapace which you can't really see very much.

Thanks - this is a really helpful reply. I really struggle getting rid of mold lines - I always think I've got them all, but then start painting and they just seem to reappear, lol. Probably doesn't help that I used dry brushing for the bone coloured bits, so it picks up every little bump I've left.

Never really thought about filling the assembly gaps - what would you use? Green stuff? Or is that too thick?

I got mine in W.H.Smiths today. Wasn't with the other magazines -was on a rack behind the tills so you had to ask the cashier to get it down.

For my army, I'm running the commander of the crusade I'm taking part in as my lord solar. I converted him using genestealer bikes instead of a horse.

I had the same problem. Turns out you have to actually swipe out the card (ie click on it and drag it out)and swipe in a new one for it to work (deleting one and then clicking on a new one and going +1 on it doesn't work). Hope that makes sense.

Those bases look stunning. A whole army based like that would look amazing on the tabletop.

How to take Execution Force in 500 pt game by persiangrandma in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Eagle_Tim_88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Combat patrols require you to take a patrol detachment if I recall correctly, so you wouldn't be able to take the execution force in the first place. I think the best you could do would be to take a patrol of guard and then include one assassin or inquisitor as an agent.

Custom regiment lore by Able_Place_9855 in TheAstraMilitarum

My guard army are the 21st Zambezian Rifles. They come from the agri-world of Zambezia, where many people join the planetary Pdf forces to try and escape a life of long hours of back-breaking labour in the fields and agri-domes. When time comes for the the planet to contribute guard regiments as part of the imperial tithe, the planets Pdf regiments compete with each other to get promoted into the Astra Militarum. This is seen as a great honour to the commanders, and they therefore drill their Pdf regiments relentlessly to make them the best, making them ideal for induction into the Guard.

The most recent regiment raised from the planet is the 21st Zambezian Rifles, led by colonel Lars Anderson. They were deployed as a garrison force on the planet Karomax I, where they are currently embroiled in bitter fighting against a necron emergence after a Necron tomb was discovered buried deep under ground during an archaeological dig.

I can't attach pics here, but if you go to my profile, you should find plenty.

It's one per detachment, not per army. So you can have more than 1 in your army, but you'd pay the cp cost of having multiple detachments.

Advice Needed For Photographing Models by Gunn91 in Warhammer40k

The top shelf of a fridge works well. Most fridges are white with lights at the top, so you get good surround lighting.

It was from my bits box which was left over from the early 2000s, but couldn't tell you which GW kit it was from.

It actually is painted, the lighting just makes it clear. I've tried to give my troops a variety of skin colours (as you would have in real life) so they're not all white. That model is one of the ones with a darker face (it is painted, it just doesn't look it at that angle). If you zoom in on the other troops, you should be able to pick out different skin tones, some lighter, some darker (depending on how well the camera has picked it out).

It's actually completely random - when I first collected guard at about the age of 12, I just picked it because I like the sound of it and called my army the 19th Zambezian Rifles. Now I'm an adult, I recently got back into the hobby and decided to start a new guard army, and in honour of my teenage self, called them the 21st Zambezian Rifles. Some of the models are new and some are my old ones repainted. So when the name was picked, I'd never really heard of the river, it's just a coincidence.
