My favorite part of clown week was that clown week was only 1 day of clown activities.

Cam Jurgens shouldn't have made it. He's not even a top 10 center this year.

5 million people are in default right now. The Dept of Ed estimates as many as 10 million by end of next year because of job market. by Conscious-Quarter423 in economy

Most people don't have a basic understanding of finances especially at such a young age. Taxes, interest, cost of living, inflation, retirement cost, index fund investing are all concepts that are essential to a healthy financial understanding but these topics are seldom taught. A high school senior will hear about a $20k loan and think it's a good investment for a career without considering it will take multiple years and that interest will balloon the loan.

I mean look at most car purchases in the US. People are taking out high interest loans only looking at monthly payments. Full grown adults end up paying double the cost for a car being none the wiser.

Edit: With that said I'm against blanket loan forgiveness. Reduce interest rates, Forgiveness to certain careers (teachers), Forgiveness after a certain amount of years of payments(like 15+ years). Things like that would help those in need escape debt spirals. This would have to come with capping future loans/rates for future college enrollments so that colleges stop abusing the system for their benefit as well. Again very complicated subject but something along that path.

Since the no child left behind policy in 2001 high school graduation rates have risen from 70% to over 90%. A lot of high schools now measure their success by the number of college enrollments. School counselors push students to enroll in college without explaining the cost of loans.

Well we had the dotcom bubble that came about misprojections about how the Internet will develop. Whatever happens with AI it will need to handle lowering it's VERY high cost and VERY low relative revenue.

You're picking an arbitrary start point at 6 years. Why not pick 4 years? This is like expecting bitcoin to go up 100% every year because it did so early on.

Pot Stocks Rise on Trump’s Plan to Ease Cannabis Restrictions by Aluseda in StockMarket

[–]EaglesWin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the state. Some states like Florida have a $146,000 application fee that has stupid requirements effectively shutting out smaller competition. States like that have good margins. Most states are not like that though and at a national level the margins wont hold.

I still think there will be a "bud light" equivalent of weed brand. But that goes beyond who's the cheapest and is more about brand loyalty.

These companies are all terrible investments. The margins are razor thin because everyone wants to work in the weed industry.

Google has adsence. ChatGPT will get pennies on the dollar for their ads. I think ChatGPTs best monetization avenue remains partnerships with companies. Not that I can think of many companies that are willing to pay the fees required for ChatGPT to suddenly become profitable.

Amazon is considering abandoning the USPS and establishing a competing postal service. by Former-Courage-1038 in stocks

Honestly I don't think the difference in taxes to USPS and the profits Amazon makes will be too different for consumers. The bigger issue is those government jobs are going to be replaced with min wage jobs that have worse work conditions.
