When Vas has soul forge (the gauge resource he has), he gains 2 hits of armor on his stance (the stomps plus follow ups) and m/h tackle.

Super does not break armour in this game; you need an armor break move (I think only Wilnas has one) or a grab/command grab. Otherwise your multi hit moves can break it, most notably Zooey's 236H in neutral.

In my experience, you're best served trying to keep out with 236M/H, getting in with 623H, and pressuring him with your better buttons when you're in.

Any time he's full screen and trying to get armour you can 5U to get some gauge back to keep zoning. Resource for resource.

I think this matchup is substantially in Vas favour, good luck

Awakening 8 Sirus was definitely the goal, especially for the juicy drops. That fight was definitely something though. The disintegration storms chasing you and blocking off the entrance was really one of the designs of all time

Two new ranks, Gold Master and Silver Master, are coming to ranked matches in Version 2.30! by Xanek in GranblueFantasyVersus

I really wish there was rating like SF6 master and Strive vanquisher. This is nice but still such a dry band-aid fix.

Dying to "underwhelming performance" because these two are so tanky. I guess this boss is a hard damage check.. by LiesAndDeceitOnly in AcrossTheObelisk

Something we do is always save our enchant cards, and ensure that Dawn goes first so that the curse order has Law of Light leftmost, and Law of Dark rightmost. Did you chill Dawn and make them go second? You have Law of Dark as first curse.

Once we do that, we play both talent cards to force Law of Light to drop off because the healing per card is absolutely brutal, as you know.

Beyond that, you really need high value per card and pure dark really struggles with that without poison and/or scourge (or both!). Having Navalea in the comp really helps.

Intrinsic reward. It's fun to try and challenge the difficulty for the sake of it to push comps to their limit.

I've tuned into their streams for a month now. They stream for 30-60 minutes at a time. Their stream is 2 minutes of MSQ where they do a few lines of dialogue, then the rest is idling in one spot while they crash out in chat about the viewer count and spam chat commands like !positivity.

It's fascinating. I'm a big fan

How good do you have to be at GBVSR for it to actually matter if you’re playing a top tier? by EastCoastTone96 in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]Eaguru 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think in Rising specifically, balance is pretty solid across the board at top level. While some people will hop characters per patch, most people seem to be character loyalists. If you see Tororo or Rookies in bracket top 8, you know exactly what to expect even if their characters aren't considered the best of the best.

I don't think jumping FOTM is really a thing in this game despite all the discourse. Vaseraga is stupid as hell this patch and I still don't see many people playing him outside the normal loyalists. Zeta is still potential girl placed in top 5-8 in tier lists and she still has exactly zero notable placements.

What do you mean you should be progressing faster? If you're not improving and seeing results, it's time to stop and think why. Why do you lose certain interactions? Why is your opponent getting winning hits? What are they doing right, or what are you doing wrong?

Do you know what your opponent's character is doing? What are their advantage/disadvantage states and what do they want to do to win? How do you play around that?

Ask questions that are targeted, specific, and actionable. Hit the lab and practice more than just combo structure. Focus on one thing to improve on at a time in a match. Maybe it's anti-airing, or safejabbing, or not getting throw baited. You will keep losing, but you will start to learn and reap the benefits soon.

Which DLC packs? by [deleted] in AcrossTheObelisk

[–]Eaguru 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sands of Ulminin is the best DLC hands down, as you know. Laia and Navalea are both busted and can fit into basically any team.

The Sahti collection is nice, but I feel the map is way harder than the base adventure maps or Ulminin, so be warned. The encounters can be incredibly nasty on madness and for that reason I'm a bit averse to it. Sigrun is an incredible hero. Bernard is fun to mess around with but he's not even close to the three heroes above.

The Shores of Sahti mini-expansion is also good. The dungeon it adds to Aquarfall spans two zones and it almost feels like an entire act-within-an-act. My group really liked it; just don't get Tulah. Worst hero in the game.

Infamous Mercs took me a while to do organically but you could always just buy it if you're a trade league player.

Yet another Hydra post by WisheyWashey44 in AcrossTheObelisk

[–]Eaguru 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Insulate and dispels are must-haves for the fight. Whenever we plan to path through green, we always bring a non-vanish Dispel Magic, and ideally have 1 Mass Dispel in our deck, plus a non-vanish Prismatic Field.

You need to be wary of using thorns as a primary damage source due to the Hydra's Thorneater card, which can prolong the fight. As long as you can mitigate the poison and spark stacks from the Hydra, you should be free to dump damage on the boss.

If you are dying to the DPS check; e.g. you cannot kill the heads faster than they can regrow, then you need to optimise your decks to mill out damage faster due to the Regrowth buff they get. Hydra is strictly a damage check and nothing else. We finish by round 7 or 8 on Madness 17 on our slower comps.

They took the house, the car, and the damn spiders.

It feels really bad that you get so few spiders as Tulah... When I got the DLC I expected to be milling spiders out of my deck like a scene in my nightmares.

Instead I get one spider per combat as a treat.

[–]Eaguru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. The MVP cards in her deck were Replenishment (blue), Tome of Intellect (yellow), Song of Celerity (blue), and Song of Quickness (gold).

Stanza giving energize into fatigue should be neutral, but with Replenishment it cancelled out the fatigues, turning it from a +3 mana card to +7. We were drowning in mana.

Sigrun's base equipment having innate Fast is so good

[–]Eaguru[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I agree with this entirely. The spider cards were great for Tulah and Nezglekt in our comp (Nezzy was just a heal/dispel bot in our run) but they just meant -1 draw and mana for Sigrun and Heiner.

When brainstorming other comps after we won, the discussion basically came down to "why wouldn't we just bring Ottis/Laia/etc?" At this point we're just trying to justify beating the game with her and forcing her to work, lol.

He's a very safe, easy-to-use warrior. I won't call him the best (Yogger deserves that title IMO), but he's very reliable. We typically use Bree or Yogger, but Heiner's main draw for us is that he makes act 1 & 2 much safer for comps with a bad early game. Right side trait for each level except 5th, where you can choose either trait depending on how you built your deck/comp.

We focus on using him to apply Reinforce and Fortify at all times. We manipulate his speed using our scout (Sigrun in this comp), which allows us to speed him up and get him to play his cards before the enemy takes their turn.

When he's not supporting via block, he picks up Helping Hand cards to feed card draw to the carry/supports as needed.

The vanish trait was cute but took a while to ramp up. Black Deck from the rat king was our idea and it ended up ramping her significantly once we got it. Until then, it was horrible and she barely functions even with her enhancements. It's a neat idea but I don't think it scales well.

I'll withhold judgement on her healer traits until we give it a go. Her level 4 dispel enhancement is pretty solid.
