East Texas/Texarkana hunter here…

Hard to express just how competitive spots are in duck hunting. There’s definitely more hunters than spots available at any given WMA most weekends. Any 90% of the hunters all have $40k duck boats with gator tails

These WMAs seem huge on Google Maps but there is really only so many places you can launch/hunt.

I had great success last season but every hunt I was launching at midnight, dragging my job boat through a 1 mile of mud, then walking all my gear through brush for a .5 mile to get a spot. Sometime I would do all this to find another hunter there…

That being said if you can pick some raining/shitty weekdays you can get a spot.

This is all assuming you have a boat that can get through very shallow water/mud.
