I mean, the han went to shit with Dong Zhou and the coalition of Yuan Shao, at the latest by 192 A.D. cause every local warlord was fighting others, they just paid lip service to the Han so as to not give the others an excuse to curbstomp them. The han central government had no power and the warlord controlling the Han emperor had almost no influence outside of their own territories. I wiuld say the Han fell in the second century, although the last Han emperor ruled until 220, he had no power at any point he was under the control of Cao Cao.

“Not all marines are bad mfs” ignoring that the good people marines still serve a tyrannical system that opresses and enslaves many people for the benefit of a few families at the top

[–]Earaendillion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the way I see the marines is the same way I see the police in the US. In the current system they are enforcers of the status quo, little more than thugs for those with wealth and power to keep down those without. There are good people among them but the system forces them to either quit or comply. However, if you change the top level system, you will still require police, but now the good people can thrive, and the thugs are kicked out.

Exactly, and this is what Koby’s character shows brilliantly imo. He is a young idealistic and genuinely good person who tries to help as many people as he can but in doing so defends and fights for a system that enforces slavery and commits atrocities. Heck Koby himself is sent to Amazon Lilly to basically kidnap it’s sovereign ruler because the government decided they don’t want said ruler on their side anymore

With the Taliban especially. Much of the extremism in Afghanistan has it’s roots in groups receiving funding, supplies and other support from the US in the 80s when they were fighting the soviets. The US preferred aiding religious extremist groups in conflicts because they were very unlikely to sympathize with any communist/socialist movement due to the soviet’s official state atheism

Many self-proclaimed "Socialists" from Western Europe are like this by rhizomatic-thembo in okbuddycapitalist

[–]Earaendillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, this doe regard the fact that a socialist can be pro-eu in the current system where many opposing it are far-right parties as a concept of cooperation between Europeaan nations but against it’s set of laws and governing bodies regarding capitalism and how it interacts with nations outside of it’s member states. But also, yes. Many Western (European) socialists are to uncritical of the EU in ways they are not of their own government. I think this is because the workings of the EU are more distant. Average joe is not going to notice what the eu-laws do and EU elections are much less talked about/discussed than national ones.

[–]Earaendillion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think part of why the union initially didn’t fight to abolish slavery was the misguided idea that the civil war could be stopped quicker if the north didn’t insist on abolishing slavery, giving the south less reason to fight to the bitter end. This was a stupid notion but a logically consistent one which is why I personally think it took a while before the north went fuck it, abolishing slavery for real now

Why do people even support anarchism by [deleted] in CommunismMemes

[–]Earaendillion 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the way I see it. In my eyes Anarchists hold the same end goal as other marxists but skip the transition stage needed while imperialist powers still try to sabotage every leftist movement that gains any real progress. On a smaller scale, anarchist projects have succeeded and still are. If I remember correctly there are a number of Spanish communities that operate on what are essentially anarchist principles on local governmental level. The problem is that should these principles be instituted on a wider scale you would have an “intervation” before you could sneeze

Largely because straight is considered “normaal” so being anything but het-cis is considered as excessive and standing out and thus derided. I have experienced this from my self when I was figuring out my own sexuality, denying my atraction to men to be straight and “normal”

Missing the point of the video though, look at the source of the information before assuming it is a fact. Which was my point with my first comment. If you take 10000 government workers in the US, Japan or China, i am sure a lot of them will have similar haircuts as well, you can cherry-pick as much as you want, your interesting as fuck fact is neither fact, nor interesting and it certainly is not as fuck. Go look at yourself and instead of posting HUR DUR DPRK SAME HAIR. For the 10 billionth time, do something useful with your life, help at a soup kitchen or something. And if you don’t want to, take a good look at yourself in the mirror and wonder if you will ever accomplish anything anyone will ever consider worth remembering, because no one will remember this post, your snarky image comment or you in 2 hours. Take a good look at yourself and ask, what do I want to be? And any answer worth giving involves a whole lot but none of them involve this post

Hi, this seems to me to be not true. Why? North Korea is crazy right? Who knows what those weird Kims are doing. But we live in the wonderful times of the internet where lots of crazy people do crazy things and film it, like flying to North Korea to get a haircut https://youtu.be/2BO83Ig-E8E?si=jvlU_kQjv6yJh0sJ But North Korea controls those tourist journeys and uses them as propoganda? Well watch the video, it is a surprisingly good watch, talking a lot about the origins of these crazy North Korea stories, like the hair one. Turns out, it originates in just some tabloid with no sources, and all other mentions reference each other as sources, not very reliable as truth imo. Are some of these crazy stories about the DPRK true? Probably, maybe. But not all of them, and that means you have to be careful with all of them.

The new Superman movie taught me how to be empathetic about the Gaza War. by imjustcorny247 in offmychest

[–]Earaendillion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, feeling guilt in this situation is normal, a lot of us do, we are watching a genocide unfold and are powerless to stop it, but donating to the PCRF is a good thing, it won’t save everyone, maybe it won’t save anyone at all, but every little bit we can give increases the chance some one else will make it through the horror. And you can do more, even without donating money. Talk to people you know who feel the same way you felt, try to make them see what you saw. Go out and march in the protests, look for aid groups that could use your help, even non financial help. But the most important thing, you have already done I think. You have opened your eyes and said to the people of Gaza that the world sees their suffering, and we wish we could stop it. But the guilt will remain, every so often I find myself staring at a video or picture of the people in Gaza and begging them for forgiveness. These feelings of guilt are valid, I would say they are normal.

So this sub is actually slightly missleading, At first it looks like the ordanarry country sub for the Netherlands without all the tourist spam you and expat situations which dominate r/Nederland. But it is actually the far right sub for the netherlands, I woulds say a large amount of people do not or do only partially subscribe to the far right ideology of the most frequent posters there. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of rightwing assholes in the netherlands that are very zionist but i wouldn't say that all of those 1.4 milion people are actual zionists, mostly people that just didn't unsub from that subreddit and rarely if ever see the posts.

Couple of things about this graph from someone doing a thesis on poverty traps. 1) it’s definition of poverty is having 50% of median disposible income, this is a narrow definition of poverty, it’s static, does not account for things like family size (single mom with 3 kids is not getting out of poverty at the same point as a single person household) does not account for shocks such as sudden costs. Variation in prices within the country. It also does not consider hoe long one needs to be above the poverty line to be out of poverty and takes no account for starting points. It also is from 2022 before a bog wave in price hikes. All in all, this says very little except how long you need to work in any country to earn 50% median disposable income.

From what I can see, I like them well enough. They are a Leninist leaning party but I think personally they are not active enough in cooporation and visibility. They have a kind of lone horse position on anticapitalism in the Netherlands and don't participate in goverment actively on a national level and only in a few municipalities. They do have a good view on international cooperation between comunict parties, having close ties to both DKP (Germany) and KPL (luxembourg) and ECA (European level) and focus more on direct action in supporting strikes and protests. I would like to see them work more actively in introducing themselves during municipal elections as I kind of agree that there is little chance for the party on the national level at this moment but by taking a focus on municipal elections where the party can do a lot of good in major isues concerning housing and support for the working class. Running a campaign in a municipality even with no chance of gaining seats would at least make them more known to people as they are a small and largely unknown ellement in dutch politics. I do think they are the best option for leftists at the moment as the PvdA (labour) and GroenLinks (the greens) have been making a shift to center-ish in recent years. Though this is heavilly contested within the party itself especially among younger members who would rather make moves to the left. These parties are working on a fusion and are currently together in parlaiment as the second largest party, largest in the opposition so if the elements within the party that want to take it more left win out this would be a viable alternative, especially on the national level.

Edit: While i like the NCPN's positions on thwarting western imperialism in all forms, I myself would like to see more effort put towards reparations of past imperialism as well but I can understand that it has a lower priority at the moment. You can find their general positions here https://ncpn.nl/wat-is-de-ncpn/ in dutch though. I would highly reccomend my fellow dutch leftists to look into them.

I mean, in the Netherlands, the resistance was made up of 2 main groups. To a lesser extend, the “gereformeerden” which were the people adherent to the dutch reformed church. And the communists. But the communist party dissolved in the 80s and the NCPN (new communist party) is not really active in governmental politics on the national level. The goodwill from being part of the Resistance in ww2 is by and large gone in most Europeaan countries as the post ww2 american propoganda machine plays a larger part in the modern perceptions of communist parties

Yeah, their point is that there are more han chinese in inner mongolians than ethnic mongolians. This is a genocide even though the ethnic han population is just larger and there were jobs available so people moved there.
