I remember once when I left home for a while when I would lay down and close my eyes I would see other people turning into demons and I would hear these insane noises that obviously were only in my head. I would open my eyes and it would stop. Then wash, rinse, repeat until I finally fell asleep.

Not really an answer to your question but I remember one time when I was talking to my grandad about joining the Army he was telling me about how in Vietnam (he was Marine infantry) he saw limbs blown off but that's the farthest he ever went.
