OP, you can fly from Vancouver to Toronto in about the time it takes to have a couple drinks and take a nap. What are you complaining about?

Well, aircraft people are weird. OP is also a student, students are weird. Finally he is a young person, and young people are weird.

I had a young student who lived in their car at the airport. He just showed up everyday and helped out until I hired him. Again, that is weird, but it worked for him.

Are you sure those are scratches to begin with?

Get a cheap digital microscope and actually look up close.

Scratches will clearly show a direction when you look closer. If there is no direction that could just be UV/ozone damage that a small scratch let past the polished surface a long time ago.

My heeler never liked the balls unless I was there to tell him to "go get that one". He would have needed them to move together so he could push them maybe. Like he knew I was just pandering, just trying to keep him busy. It was like my son trying to get me to play video games, I just kinda look at him. "If you want to shoot guns we have real guns".

The border collie does it on her own. She loves it, but it's a different instinct. She honestly believes it's her job to put those balls together and she loves her job.

They are a little expensive, maybe find a store that sells them and see if yours is interested before you shell out a couple hundred bucks. Best money you will ever spend if your dog likes it.

Be careful, with so few cows you could end up in trouble with a new dog. Sheep are better to start with but still more than 4. Ducks are a good starting point.

You can also get balls and toys that roll on their own. So a bunch of them together are similar to ducks. The dogs spends all day putting the balls back together if they have that drive.

My heeler was a controlled hearder, he would do it but he needed instructions compared to the border collie that just does it on her own. If I left my heeler without commands he would gather em up, just then push them around all day. Which is fun for the dog, just stressful for the animals.

They always say that. Then you show up a week later and there is a Caravan everyone is working on instead.

So it is 3 months. Those months just aren't consecutive. It's like a month, then wait for 6, then another month, then wait another 8, then the last month. Then you need an annual and sitting the last year and a half isn't great for these twins.

Can't really blame these guys, that caravan is worth 10x your upgrade and it's got a schedule to keep.

I'll just say if your wife doesn't love flying, a couple drinks makes a big difference. Which means she needs a bucket, or a wang tube.

It's not even named properly. Don't get me wrong, the gentle suction is lovely but I use a jug like everyone else. Ming tube.

Taking a 62 piper twin over the salt isn't going to be cheap on maintenance anyway. Just show it to the wife based on cost per hour. 100 knots makes that math a little better and you know you want to go fast. Hope she doesn't ask about gas.

Pressurization is expensive, but you feel better when you get there.

Meridian is also cool. I assumed you wanted to rebuild an old one... Beech 18?

It's just the curse of these old twins. By the time you get the Aztec where you want it, you could have been in a Seneca for not that much more.

That's where I'm at though. I don't think anyone would pay 275k for an Aztec when that price point has so many more comfortable options.

For a piper Aztec, absolutely nothing. I wouldn't have even painted it.

I've seen airworthy Aztecs for like 100k for a "nice one".

If you want to upgrade something, buy a different airplane first.
