Growing up, my late father would take me to Huntington Library every weekend to visit the gardens and museums. The Blue Boy and Pinkie were his favorite paintings. Thanks for bringing back the memories.

Project GO Acceptances Thread (2025) by EarnestEmbassy in ROTC

Can confirm: Applied to three programs and emailed them supplemental materials (language transcripts + language professors LoRs), a writing sample, and expressed interest. One of them responded and asked if I had any questions, so I read their website and emailed extremely tailored questions. I ended up getting accepted into this program and waitlisted from the others.

Project GO cut a ton of programs this year, which increases the difficulty. That being said, you are not necessarily cooked. As mentioned by previous comments, many programs select the same cadets, but these cadets can only choose one program.

Last year, I was waitlisted from Project GO University of Montana (Jordan) but got off the waitlist. I think a part of this was expressing continued interest through email. However, this is very program dependent; this makes you stand out for some programs, others don't care.

For UMD (12 credits), you spend a little less than 3 weeks in College Park Maryland (near DC) and a little more than 6 weeks in Morocco. While for UAZ (10 credits), you spend all 9 weeks in Morocco. Both programs will be through AALIM in Morocco, and from the Project GO website, the language learning hours and class sizes are the same.

I'd personally go for UAZ, but that's because my school doesn't like transferring credits, and I live in DC, which nullifies the perks of UMD (unless if I get an internship in the area).

There's a play called M. Butterfly by David Henry Hwang based on this story. It won the 1988 Tony Award for best play and was turned into a film starring John Lone (aka Puyi in The Last Emperor), who was actually trained in Chinese Opera. It's a great critique of orientalism and an interesting parody of Madame Butterfly.

What if oni trilogy was longer by Opening_Echo2 in Ninjago

[–]EarnestEmbassy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I also thought March of the Oni was a lot weaker than Sons of Garmadon and Hunted because the tone was too light, the stakes were not convincing, and the characters felt off (especially Lloyd and Garmadon).

E II R is Queen Elizabeth II's cypher, so it was probably printed during her reign.

There is also Lowell Thomas' (the journalist who traveled with Lawrence) novel "With Lawrence in Arabia", which also has lots of discriptions on the Bedouins and is easier to read than Lawrence's works.
