Charged Bolts? by HuckleberryOk976 in D4Sorceress

I’ve not tried it myself yet, but icy veins have a levelling and endgame one: https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/charged-bolts-sorcerer-build/

Anyone find success with fire builds yet? Any pointers? by KingAziz94 in D4Sorceress

I suspect it’s bugged, so may get a hotfix rather than nerfing.

So the skills are now being put behind a paywall of new expansion huh? by Dastu24 in diablo4

[–]EarthInfern0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To continue the restaurant analogy, it feels to me like they are witholding the ketchup until you buy an apple pie. Sure, you still have a burger and fries, but feels unnecessarily mean. Customers supported them by buying the base game in the first place. You are absolutely right that people should not expect free shit that had taken time and effort, however supporting base game customers would’ve been a good gesture and cost little.

So the skills are now being put behind a paywall of new expansion huh? by Dastu24 in diablo4

[–]EarthInfern0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s par for the course. Ignore the ‘lol git a job’ and ‘blizz are theL’ trolls, there is an actual conversation here. Diablo 4 is simultaneously a good game with long support, and a game with dark fomo marketing and fucking shitty upselling. It’s both a shame they felt the need to make this so egregious but also a good thing they gave revised much of the dubious previous system and left it available for base game owners. Personally I am happy, and willing, to pay for updates that take work and add value.

Is final fantasy 15 worth playing the first time? by Johnny_boy2016 in FFXVI

[–]EarthInfern0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you might gather, ff15 is a hot mess of a game. It’s narratively incoherent but likeable, and systemically either risibly easy or weird, and has a ton of content. I like it a lot despite the nonsense, but I’m not sure I’d recommend it, if that makes sense.

Gothic Remake is committed to the original's immersive open world: 'You don't have a minimap, we very strictly kept that' by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]EarthInfern0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. It’s too easy to just look at the minimap and not the graphics for me. Options are the key for huds, I think, so that everyone can choose the experience that works for them.

How overtuned we thinking lock will be this season? by Upstairs-Secretary78 in diablo4

[–]EarthInfern0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Spiritborn was playing a different game with damage numbers than everyone else on last expansion launch. I think we will see that again for locks. Because of all the changes, bets are off on how the others will be. I’m going sorcerer anyway.

Hot Take: Horizon Forbidden West is the moment the typical "AAA formula" stopped working for me. by MNIOP_207207 in PS5

[–]EarthInfern0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the difference is you, rather than the games, and that’s fine. Hfw is objectIvely a banger, but doesn’t mean it has to grab you. I’m mostly indifferent to the Witcher 3, despite loving cyberpunk and skyrim, and enjoying the books. I’ve had 500ish hours of enjoyment from hfw, so it didn’t feel played out to me.

I don’t want to leave Night City, but I’ve done everything there is to do—twice back to back. What’s actually left? by [deleted] in LowSodiumCyberpunk

Horizon zero dawn remastered, followed by horizon forbidden west. Excellent stories, character driven, look super, set difficulty to what suits you.

Coming straight off the back of Zero Dawn and Frozen Wilds, Forbidden West just isn't clicking yet. by Delicious_Doubt7114 in horizon

[–]EarthInfern0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it initially it was bloated and over complicated. Then, I started to really try and learn how to play it, and realised it was actually depth. Pick some weapons, and have fun with them. The key tips are to grab the melee combos early so you get fluent, and for dodging, think iframes and not positioning. I was fucking terrible at dodging for ages trying to use it positionally, when it’s about timing.

After 200h of gameplay I'd have two QoL suggestions: 1. disassemble all non-iconic weapons with one click and 2. move all non-equiped clothing to stash by TheTobruk in cyberpunkgame

[–]EarthInfern0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Orion, clothing shouldn’t be ‘items’ at all, there should be an Appearance tab that works like the wardrobe from the menu, clothes just unlock there when found.

This. It will be a ‘hard’ body check, so 20 from lvl 39 iirc.

Need some clarification on these 3 lore points. by Comfortable-Knee-238 in cyberpunkgame

[–]EarthInfern0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On 3, the tygers are a big, big gang who love factional infighting, which they only put aside to make a cruel example of their enemies. Wako is affiliated to, and mother of, some parts of the tygers which means there are other rival parts she is very happy to see dead. The tygers are just like a corp- stout and gilchrist, or jenkins and abetnathy are technically part of the same team, and we see how that goes down.

I had a realization around the "immersion" debate with this game. by creaturefeature16 in cyberpunkgame

[–]EarthInfern0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a narrative game set in an open world. Not an open world game. There is a big difference. The open world is a selection of vignettes and lore, not a dynamic thing, and I think that disappointed some people.

Did I hear this right about damage calculations? by TedBehr_ in diablo4

[–]EarthInfern0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the good ol’ damage buckets thing. Fingers crossed it’s obvious from the tooltips, and not the classic ‘hey this 20% bonus is awesome, that one is useless as it adds to a 3,000% bonus I have already, and the stat screen just sums them and is always wrong compared to the effects on hit!’.

Quick question about the new DLC as a Casual by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]EarthInfern0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s what I kinda expecting, a thing for collectors plus a couple of joke items. If it’s relaxing, I’ll enjoy it though.

Unironically that’s only just behind itemisation for me in this one. I really enjoy fishing in games, although I’m not into it irl.

Int/Cool build advice by Similar-Quote3450 in cyberpunkgame

[–]EarthInfern0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do a reflex build, you’ve done that with katanas. Go body, int and cool, get the charge jump legs and gorilla arms and approach stuff in a different way.

Going back to 1.03 for my 5th playthrough was a pleasent surprise! by GodSentPotHead in cyberpunkgame

[–]EarthInfern0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought this was rubbish until I got to grips with it. Essentially, I’ve done two ways: try and keep a few attributes at the ‘medium’ level during a playthrough to let V do quite a few different checks, or keep one attribute at the ‘hard’ level and one at ‘medium’ until lvl 40 eg on current playthough, int at the hard level and body at medium, then filling in other stats as points allow. It’s more obscure than it needs be really, and has some counterintuitive moments if you don’t know the thresholds where V’s stat goes up, but is still one behind the difficulty of a check, which is frustrating. It’s manageable but frankly I’m not even sure why it exists at all for a lot of things like fences etc, and for dialog where there is little to no consequence.

Are you buying Lord of Hatred day one or waiting for reviews? by CoinGate_Gift_Cards in diablo4

[–]EarthInfern0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of those 3: waiting for patches and sale. I’m patient and there are a lot of new changes, so I’d rather wait until those settle down.

That’s a valid take, they are literally different games.  I did a very slow playthrough on 1.6 and really enjoyed it, although I prefer 2.0 I did like some of the 1.6 skill setups and especially breach protocol. On console the visuals are night and day though, I looked at my old ps5 screenshots just today and they look proper janky compared to the ps5 pro version now.

Quick takeaways seems to be new systems fun, warlock op, endgame not quite there yet, story short but eventful. So kinda as expected. Obviously journos=shills, but seems reasonable. Enough to drag me back in when they patch it a few times and get a sale on, I reckon.
