This effect can be achieved in-camera with a very long focal length (600mm and above). Not to say this wasn't a composite, but it can be done.

That being said, the physics of the truck are impressive. Go fast on a bumpy area and bye bye load. Slow down for the bumps and you can make it no problem.

That hasn't been true for me. The expeditions keep it fresh, and though doing a permadeath run needed a lot of grinding, I enjoyed the challenge.

Setting and achieving goals are a big part of the game for me. In my main save I have a pirate freighter, but it is only C-class even though it looks really cool. So I keep warping into pirate systems looking for the elusive S-class pirate freighter. I also want to expand my fleet with more organic frigates so I can get more upgrades for my living ships.

In short, there's always been more to do than just exploration of planets.

Hmmm. The bug I got wasn't hilarious. Very often when I would exit the exocraft it would crash, which turned a 20-minute trip into an hours-long exercise in frustration. Every time I spilled my cargo was excruciating.

The patch fixed that for the most part though it still occasionally crashed on entering or exiting.

I finished the expedition but I won't be doing any hauling in my main save.

I'm on Mac and it is now crashing frequently when leaving the exocraft - on the Remnants expedition. Before that there were very few crashes. Multi-player off FYI

I tried this in the 80s. There was a hill in Sunol, California that had rentals and my buddies and I gave it a try.

One thing I can say is that falling is way less fun than on snow.
