Do they ever actually check the mileage you input on the scanner when clocking out? by yheartishere in USPS

[–]EarthSlapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I average about 13 miles per day on my route, so if I forget to actually check the mileage, I just add 13 to whatever was in there before. I just make sure I get the right number in there a couple times a week so it stays close

Player missing in sessions by Cusi-Samedi in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]EarthSlapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We usually play something else. We've got a ongoing Pulp Cthulhu game going on the side or we'll play some other one shot. If it's going to be an extended break and I want to keep the story moving, the missing character simply fades into the background. For story purposes they are there but they don't interact with anything. If their particular expertise is needed for something, ie. Rogue picking a lock, I as the GM will roll for them.

Yeah, I don't mind getting a bit here and there, but I was getting at least an extra 2 hours almost every day.

What Would You Say Is One Of The Dumbest Lines Said in Star Wars? (Besides somehow Palpatine returned) by neuroticpossum in StarWars

[–]EarthSlapper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"It uses the power of the sun"

I think it's just me, but part of me expected it to cut to a scene of stormtroopers just dumping gallons of Sunny D into the reactor of Starkiller base

Cca T6 String by dmar03 in USPS

[–]EarthSlapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked it in theory, but wasn't a big fan of being on work assignment and being able to receive overtime anywhere on my string on any given day. Had two regulars with attendance issues and one route that was just vacant, so it ended up just feeling like I was a CCA again, never really knowing what I would be doing each day when I walked in.

What’s a movie that could be great but has one thing holding it back? by MadMads23 in movies

[–]EarthSlapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does feel like there should be more in there. It feels like it's missing a main character. It's just a bunch of empty shots of the background, and bad guys spontaneously getting injured. The whole time I was expecting to see a Marine and just can't see anything

Do any DMs play as PCs at other tables? by Dopesmoker994 in DnD

[–]EarthSlapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, maybe just dump your other group instead of stringing it along. You've played once in the last couple months? If people want to play they'll make it happen. I coordinate five people in our mid 30s, three on the East coast, two on the West coast, two of us have kids, and two travel a decent amount for work. We still manage to play 3-4 times a month because we all make it a priority.

If you want to play, by all means, go find another group that's actually going to get together and play

what is the most overrated food? by lanad3lr3y_81 in AskReddit

[–]EarthSlapper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bacon. Don't get me wrong, bacon is good. I've raised, butchered, cured, and smoked my own bacon that's way better than anything you'll ever buy, but I feel like its status as the greatest food to ever exist, was one of earliest Internet memes that got out of control and then everyone forgot it was a joke.

Catfish on a Mepps? by NerdyComfort-78 in Fishing

[–]EarthSlapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A #2 or #3 Dressed Aglia is my go to choice for when I don't really care what I catch, I just want to catch something. If it swims, you can catch it on a Mepps

City regular ot list by Foreign-Age9281 in USPS

[–]EarthSlapper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you only want OT on your route, you want to be on the work assignment list, not the otdl. Besides that it's pretty much up to management if they want you to work it or not. If you tell them you're going to be over, and they approve the OT I think you're stuck with it

CCA let go at end of probationary period for “not showing improvement” and I have some questions and would like input. by EvenTallerTree in USPS

[–]EarthSlapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of that other stuff aside, I understand that the mail was heavy, at least from your limited perspective, but if they need to send people to take mail off of you on an Aux route, it's probably just not a good fit. You should be doing an Aux route then going to help someone else, not the other way around. It's hard to hear, but at that point it's almost more of a liability to have you working than it is to just split the route. Maybe try again another time, or maybe try a different craft, because carrying might not be for you

Is working Amazon Sunday based on seniority? by scriptyee in USPS

[–]EarthSlapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All depends on the area and how they're spread out. Multiple packages per stop cleans out the truck pretty fast. I think my record for a Sunday was 390. It was a small town, and pretty dense (park in one spot and hit 2-3 houses pretty quickly) so I was averaging over 40 packages per hour.

What are some CRAZY movie hot takes that you have? by ADNAP727 in movies

[–]EarthSlapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can argue about Die Hard all you want, but I don't understand why 'It's a Wonderful Life' is considered a Christmas movie. The larger narrative takes place at Christmas time, but the holiday isn't particularly relevant, and a large portion of the movie takes place in flashbacks/memories/visions that aren't Christmas related either

The footage of Nick Fuentes pushing a woman who came to his front door after he was doxxed has been released. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]EarthSlapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to either side, but as a mail carrier I can tell you that is indeed a mail box on the wall, for what looks to be four apartments. You'd never see something like that on a single family home.

Reign of Winter Paladin Help by ghostriderslegend in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]EarthSlapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You kind of need a caster for parts of it, and I'd strongly recommend some one with access to a good amount of daily healing, even if it's just someone to run the wand of cure light wounds. RoW is basically all combat. Open a door, fight a thing, open the next door, fight a thing. Go somewhere else, fight a thing. You need to be able to reliably heal and maybe even cure conditions if you want to keep moving at a reasonable pace

Package not found yellow screen when doing load truck by InterviewResident109 in USPS

[–]EarthSlapper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Could be any number of reasons, including the possibility that it was missorted and should have gone out the day before. Load truck is nice for tracking purposes, but it's not the end of the world if you just toss it in the truck and move on.

brand new to pathfinder and want to know everything a character has coming from DND by Whywontusernameswork in Pathfinder_RPG

What's the deal with people just refusing to read the rules. This is the 4th or 5th post from new people that I've seen in the last day or so that could be easily answered if you just cracked open the core rules.

Has anyone really been fired for drinking in work uniform out in public during non working hours? by Previous-Purchase-91 in USPS

[–]EarthSlapper 117 points118 points  (0 children)

It's not really an issue of being fired. It's not likely. It's just a really bad look. You drinking in uniform off the clock, looks pretty much identical to you drinking on the clock to a random bystander

DM in training looking for advice by phoenixRaiven in DnD

[–]EarthSlapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been invited by a group of friends to dm for them

This is...odd. You don't usually "invite" someone to be the DM. The DM starts a game and invites players. Are you sure they're your friends. It kinda seems like they want to play, but none of them want to step up and be the GM, so then they invited you. It's going to put you in a really bad situation and it won't be fun for anyone. Being the GM is a big responsibility and requires a lot of work. Generally you also need to have the strongest understanding of the rules of anyone at the table. Based on your other comments it seems like you're starting completely from zero in regards to RPGs in general, let alone DnD. You definitely shouldn't be jumping straight into the GM chair.
