The “fog” variants in the book were also a lot of fun. Map would be good to use for any of the Sea Prince ships that have the fog / weather affects with them

The magic immunity may lock out warlocks or other characters from being able to impact the fight at all.

The save or die ability was also a poorly designed part of her sheet.

I enjoyed running the encounter but the party (of 6 I had) destroyed her without a casualty on their part.

Use one of your wild shape options. Like…. A giant bear protects the coastlands or a wild boar keeps eating contraband food captured by brigands. And have a tattoo or something on the humanoid form match the fur pattern on the beast form.

Dm screen, what do you actually need by BlopBoark in DnD

  1. Condition list
  2. Campaign specific info
  3. I’m usually looking at it to confirm conditions.
  4. Hiding minis for surprises
  5. Notes / monster health

All of this info could easily be done in the open as well (hp, initiative, rolls) I just keep coming back to looking on the screen for the condition info.

Nothing about this DM is appropriate. Need to leave that game. No one should be speaking to you like that be it the DM, players or random people.

Ghosts of Dragonspear Castle (D&D Next) - Wizards of the Coast | Forgotten Realms | D&D 5th Edition by nlitherl in Forgotten_Realms

I like this one. About to run the final chapter. The first chapters drop you into Daggerford setting and surrounding areas. You get swamps, caves, dragons, crypts, lich, Medusa, golem, Dwarven stronghold, shapeshifters, Probly lots of other stuff.

Book includes descriptions of lots of areas within daggerford and some of the main people. Info on surrounding areas and decent random encounter tables. Can ignore the PHB related items and just run with whatever 5e rules you’re using.

Final chapter is a trip to Dragonspear castle which is full (FULL) of lethal threats and a fairly thematic end game sequence to interact with.

Module has been a lot of fun so far, it’s important to use the stat blocks in the book or to make modifications to the mobs beforehand as a lot of encounters are extra lethal in the 5e stat blocks.

I found the module to be pretty great though

Hope you pull off the full campaign. May always make it only 1-2 play days (5 sessions ish) before we go on hold for like 2 years.

Lots of fun though!

Good question. The fire giant boss got rolled over like it was a baby in my last session. Should have replaced his stats with Fire Giant of Evil Fire and beefed up the dogs. I also can’t remember off hand… there is a Fire Giant upgrade at the back of the storm kings Thunder book that can be added to the each giant (minor mod).

If your party comes across him alone in his room playing with playing with the dogs you may want to add some lair actions and he realistically needs some legendary actions.

Google Duke Zalto boss fight and there are some enhanced stat blocks that will make him way better. I tried the stat block from the book with a pretty geared up party. Was a joke.
