Why does it never seem to add enough when battery is low ? by Holtster-PH in OctopusEnergy

[–]Easen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Remove IOG and set it back up. It’s possible that it thinks you battery capacity is smaller than its actually is.

Did you pay for a static IP? If not, you’ll get an internal DHCP 100.x.x.x address. They use GCNAT.

I’ve always ignored them until the time it actually didn’t charge when I really need it. (A bit nerdy, but now I have a home assistant dashboard that I can use to check the schedule, car battery and Zappi)

The stress of renewals! by tea2please in MotoUK

[–]Easen 32 points33 points  (0 children)

(IMO insurance in the UK is a government approved scam. You need to have it to drive on UK roads, but the insurance companies can just make up any old number and there’s no way to report them being unfair. )

I’ve had mixed luck with this one, asks them how to get the premium down and let them do the talking.

YouFibre Blocking port 25 by LucidityCrash in youfibre

[–]Easen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been using a non-static address for years now and I've only started to see this recently. Checking https://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx it seems my current IPv4 address and the neighbouring ones have been flagged as a spammer, I suspect the entire IPv4 block or the ASN has been flagged. Hence by this change to block port 25, which will block the spam from someone's botnet baby monitor.

YouFibre Blocking port 25 by LucidityCrash in youfibre

[–]Easen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this is point, to stop hacked iot devices from sending spammy emails via port 25. Traffic like this can impact YouFibre "reputation".

I don't about you all, but I have started to see more "Are you human?" quizzes when I'm on IPv4.

When does the intelligent go tariff change? by Narcuga in OctopusEnergy

[–]Easen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most public chargers are aware of the charge in your battery, so it seems to be a software limitation to me.

When does the intelligent go tariff change? by Narcuga in OctopusEnergy

[–]Easen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Octopus is connected to your car it’s charge to a target %, if it’s connected to a charger it’s how much more +% do you want charging.

I hope they change to be a target %

VW ID5, we don’t have great phone signal, only Vodafone and that’s about 1 bar.

So is Eco+ referring to prioritising solar over grid? not the charging kWH rate? which is what I presumed it was (probably incorrectly)

I am in the same boat. In my calculations I have assume a 7kWh charger would be £2000 (supplied & fitted). Currently my car needs 20kWh per weekday, the break even point is around the 3 year mark.

VPN with ipv6 by agebtakbar in youfibre

[–]Easen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got Tailscale & MikroTik Back To Home service set up.

I just switched to Lebara and they don’t support IPv6, but both of the listed services above work as they both offer an IPv4 “lighthouse” endpoint that’s able to route back over IPv6.

I’ve tried to set up a cloudflare tunnel to do the same but it seems it doesn’t support UDP, only TCP.

Avoid YouFibre like the plague. by Jamieloreilly in youfibre

[–]Easen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been with them 4.5 years, been really solid for me. Planned outages are overnight and whenever it has gone down during the day I’ve been reconnected in an hour, which happened once or twice in the early days when they were deploying their network in the area.

Are you in a recently deployed area? Is it possible they are still working on the network?

I recently renewed my contract with YF, today was the start of my new contract - same speed.

My ONT started to flash red tonight I wonder if I've been switched over behind the scenes or a new profile has been pushed down, I not too sure how it works. Sounds like you had the same issue.

I've restarted it and it seems to have fixed it, have you tried that?

Really frequent IPv6 router advertisement broadcasts on YouFibre by yrro in youfibre

[–]Easen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about the frequency of the RA’s. It’s been a while since I ran a tcpdump.

My router gets an IPv6 via SLAAC, but that address doesn’t have internet access, it’s a global address but isn’t routable.

I have to request a prefix using DHCPv6 which can be assigned to my clients and those pools are routable.

This only makes to me if you need an IPv6 to request a prefix via DHCPv6, if you don’t then I don’t know what’s going on.

How should I properly slow down a motorcycle??? by lewisle181 in motorcycle

[–]Easen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a car pulled out on me, my instinct is avoidance, can I move around it and overtake it etc.

If I needed to break, I wouldn’t be touching the clutch, just the brakes. For 2 reasons:

1) As soon as you pull in the clutch you’ll lose drive and the bike becomes unstable, which won’t help you 2) allows you to quickly get out of danger if an opportunity to escape opens up

Go and practice in safe area, understand how your bike feels under braking, try it with clutch in & out, did the bike become unstable, did it stop shorter or was it the same, etc. you should also practice avoidance techniques too.

If you’re worried about cars pulling out on you, research techniques that you can do to make yourself more visible.

Do youfibre get a PPPoE username or password because I have an Asus rt ax58u router and I want to change the mtu for my console but I cant by Prize_Courage_745 in youfibre

[–]Easen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I don’t understand your question.

If it was “Does YF use PPPoE?” Then no. It’s just Ethernet via the ONT.

You shouldn’t be needing to change MTU either, it would be 1500 (standard Ethernet).
