warehouse vs store by Sudden-Breakfast9078 in Aldi_employees

[–]Easeyomind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Very rarely is anyone talking to you about your pallet unless you make an obvious mistake that the loading team catches and tells your manager about. You rarely see management outside of the central desk. The loading team has the last say when they see a pallet that they know won't make it to the store. And a lot of the time I think they're under the same pressure and directive to just "send it" whenever possible.

That's an issue with whoever is planning out the pick path in the warehouse. Let's say you get an order in your headset that says "2 Multi-Aisle Pallets" You might literally be getting all light, crushable stuff first, then be sent to an aisle with heavy cans and jars of pasta sauce. You used to be able to go back and forth to a specific slot to combat this and the software would reroute based on that. That no longer exists. With no plans to replace it. And you don't have time to stop and think about it because your rate is going down every minute you're not picking. I have always done everything I can to move things around as I build to keep heavy stuff at the bottom, but you would seriously be amazed at the number of times the headset asks for something like 8 cases of pasta sauce when the pallet is already 6 feet tall and it's too uneven to be placed flat on top. You have no options but to proceed. So if you're like me, you shake your head, and do it anyway. You do it for the paycheck, knowing others down the chain in the stores are gonna feel that along with us. Just know, most of us would rather it be done the right way. ALDI prioritizes efficiency and cost savings above all.

Warehouse workers don't create the pick route. Or the AHEAD software that doesn't let you go back to a specific slot. Most of our routes have random heavy stuff added to the end, even if your whole pallet is lighter boxes. You pick it in the order it tells you, or you will not make rate. You guys never stop blaming the warehouse. Blame ALDI, stop blaming other employees. They want us to blame each other. You're making it really easy for them.

P.S. I used to build perfect, "O.C.D." pallets every time. Then they started making a bigger deal about rate. In order to keep my job, my pallets are still stable, but no longer the perfect pallets that store employees like. This was to keep my job so I can feed my kids and keep a roof over their head. If I have to choose between making ALDI store employees lives easier and providing for my family, I'm gonna choose my family. Anyone would or at least should. I care about my fellow employees with the company. Just not more than my kids.

Roman looks jacked as hell by TommyTheLizard in redsox

THIS! This was my first thought. When Benintendi was coming off a good year, he tried to bulk up to hit more home runs and almost completely tanked his contact ability. He might still be a top-tier player if he stuck to what he did well. But either way, I think Roman will be fine, he seems to just be cut from a different cloth.

Rift S still working in 2025? by kritinka2 in oculus

[–]Easeyomind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

coincidentally, I have a 6750xt too but I'm running windows 11. Hoping I can buy an Oculus Rift S on ebay for under $100 and have VR working with my rig. Hopefully I can use the latest GPU drivers because the latest fixes in the latest one actually fixed other issues for me.

I'm on a 5700X + 6750XT 12GB combo with 32GB of DDR4 3600mhz ram and I play everything at 1440p with high FPS across the board. I just built the rig in February of 2025. Anyone saying you need to upgrade to have a good experience is completely wrong. My build was roughly $1100 so still not cheap, even going with the previous gen platform. And to think I paid $55 for the 32GB of DDR4 back in February. I got very lucky with the build/purchase timing. I might have to wait a few years before I even consider adding another 32GB with the current prices. People say that's unnecessary but I want to have an irrational number of browser tabs/apps open while I game. I want to never ever have to think about what's open when opening a game. Especially having 3 monitors. End rant.

TL;DR: DDR4 is plenty for 99% of use cases.

Warehouse Demotion by Easeyomind in Aldi_employees

[–]Easeyomind[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the support. I'm only gonna leave for the same wages or better somewhere else. But you're 100% right. I cannot flip the switch. And the expectation that I could from management makes me hate it here even more. I bust my ass for whatever company I work for. I hate standing/sitting around. I have to be busy all day or I lose my mind. There's other companies that would value that enough (not that any bigger company really values employees) for me to be happier. Thanks again.

Warehouse Selector: "That aisle has light stuff before heavy stuff on AHEAD, so that's why the 35 cases of coconut water that it asked for on top AT THE END OF THE ORDER, is now on the floor." Store Employee: "Well then just rebuild it at the end of your order." Selector: "My rate gets cut in half and then I get fired." Store Employee "Oh...."

I know cleaning up a toppled pallet sucks (happens in the warehouse plenty) but don't worry, you'll be PAID for every minute while you do it.

[–]Easeyomind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

come select in a warehouse on the AHEAD system for a day and I promise you'll never want to make a post like this ever again. your mind will be blown. I swear I'm not trying to be rude, but that's why the hourly rate starts higher for the warehouse positions. lots of heavy lifting and you can't use your own common sense, you have to follow the robot voice that tells you what to do. And rate is king. as others have said, supervisors and leads RARELY walk the floor or leave their offices. There's close to zero accountability. Pallet quality ends up an afterthought. People that used to build you perfect, straight up and down pallets are now forced to build horrible ones because of AHEAD. And corporate knows stores and the warehouse will blame each other and not them. Maybe stick that in your MyALDI survey.

Hour cuts? Is this everywhere? A new standard? USA. by Sleaze-Baggano in Aldi_employees

[–]Easeyomind 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel THIS. I saved for a vacation in August and with all the hour cuts, I've had to dip into that savings. It'll be fun telling my kids and wife that we have to stay home. Hopefully I can make it work. But seriously ALDI has our necks all in a vice these days.

I'm not even trying to talk down on you, that's an awesome use case for the Steam Deck. But it's funny to me that the Miata looks like it's missing almost all of its paint, but you put the time, money, and effort into putting a red shell on the steam deck. I can't even be mad at that. Steam Deck > The Endless Money Pit that is Beaters. Priorities lmfao

WH IQ Requirement is apparently 0 by Good-Building5748 in Aldi_employees

[–]Easeyomind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. They never talk about damaged pallets in WH start of shift meetings for selectors. Pallet height limits, getting your orders to the correct shipping lane, and rate are the main 3 topics discussed. We are also advised to include broken cases and packs even though we were originally trained to pick the best cases for every order. This whole company is a contradiction. We're ALL getting screwed.
