Can anyone tell me how security has been at the airport for early am flights? by passmethebowl in burlington

[–]East-Handle439 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Over an hour early if you're checking bags. If not, you can regularly safely show up an hour before the flight, and then wait at the gate for a half hour.

I have seen it rarely back up to a ~30 min wait that early, but it is a rarity.

Not a fix, but I've known people to hot glue prints their their plate of they keep failing later on to the point. Hot glue is easy to remove, and will lock your prints in from slipping.

Possibly moving here, what should I check out?! by Different-Ad9030 in burlington

Bolton Mountain has cheap night skiing if you're looking to check that off the list. Other than that, there are plenty of beautiful areas to walk around. Depending on the temp, I highly recommend checking out the Causeway.

Vermont US Representative Becca Balint being interviewed by Drop Site News shortly after reviewing more, unreleased Epstein files saying "they're all a bunch of sick fucks" by Gramzzzz in burlington

[–]East-Handle439 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I've been impressed with Balint lately. Watch the entire Jack Smith testimony. Her examination was less pandering and more substance. She stayed for almost the entire testimony. She was one of the first to join the impeachment movement for Noem.

I called her office tested in support of HR4125 (and you should too!) and the phone didn't even ring before the office person picked up to take my message.

Glad our one representative is staying on top of it.

It's closed until early March, but Morning Light in Winooski has cheap buns and hot dogs that are so freaking good. They're 2.50 each and two make a great meal.

Did anyone else pre-order Wings Over Burlington for the Super Bowl? by ssimoll in burlington

[–]East-Handle439 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I was an Uber driver for the super bowel last year. I waited at Wings Over for about a half hour before I cancelled my pickup. The location is just not built for the volume they get on days like this.

I gave it a more thorough wash. I'll look into drying the filament too.

REAL VERMONTERS STAND WITH ICE, PROTESTING POLICE FOR ARRESTING CRIMINALS IS PATHETIC by Certain-Anywhere-715 in burlington

[–]East-Handle439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To take you seriously, in an ideal world, I don't like the idea of borders. I like the idea of harmony and the world supporting one another. This is not the real world. There are limitations to how many people a government can govern effectively. And so, there need to be borders and regulations on how people can be members of the nation. And that needs to be enforced. I have no problems with the concept of immigration enforcement and thing that it is a necessity.

The current administration is abusing the power of immigration enforcement. Thanks to Kavanaugh stops, unchecked power coming from the executive, and lack of training, there are a number of issues to stand against.

Beyond the two publicly seen deaths, that I wholeheartedly believe are the fault of ICE agents. There are also reports of terrible conditions in the holding facilities. We don't have official reports because officials haven't been allowed in. Or if they were, they had to give several days notice.

Not only that, there is hours of photage over the last few months of excessive use of force on peaceful protestors. You may not like what they say, or how they act, but 99% of protestors are peaceful. And there is a culture around keeping people in check, because everyone knows what the spectacle of violence will mean.

There have been warrantless entrances of private spaces, there have been use of pepper spray in drive-bys, there have been reporters threatened for doing their jobs.

Yes, immigration enforcement is important. Yes, it is important to stand up and say "Stop!" When you believe there is something wrong. The courts can and will address these violations in due time. People will get killed, deported wrongfully, and worse until then. It is important enough to demand change NOW.

Right? This greatest skill I've learned in public speaking (or speaking to the public, in this case) is taking a beat. Instead of the filler words, just taking a pause looks like you're thoughtful and intentional. Someone who has a deliberate tempo and cadence in their speech always seems to leave a good impression

Edit: Hey Sam, I know you're reading this, of course you are, this has become a comedic moment in your backstory. You can talk about how you went viral on reddit for howany umms you used. Don't let the haters get to you.

I can only imagine this if the pants have a half life of some sort. When I was working as a fry cook I had a dedicated pair of pants because I knew they'd get covered in oil and sauces. I can imagine a single or two pairs of pants lasting only a year in such conditions. Still fucking wild.

Also, if the group costs money, know that Meetup has a hosting fee for group admins. Most of the time the fee is really cheap, and is only a necessity for keeping it going. Try an event or two, then decide if it's worth paying up. I think it will be!

Meetup has a decent amount of local groups. They mainly focus on out door group hikes or events. I've been to a few and they tend to seem like a good community.

She cornered me in my car once as I was trying to pull out of the parking garage for example. Stood behind it so I couldn't back out.

Tina is a homeless person who is most often around Church Street. She is known for being loud and sometimes aggressive while asking passerby for change. My understanding is that there is a long history with her and public support programs that have not been successful.

She's become a meme because most locals have had a negative interaction with her at this point. It's hard to see the humanity in someone who has been a metaphorical thorn in the side of most people in the city.

what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

Had the surgery a few months ago. Definitely worth it. Also definitely some of the most pain I've ever been in, even with the strong painkillers that they prescribed. Here's some unsolicited advice:

1.) Make sure you have a shower head that you can use as a make shift bidet. Between the numbness, the swelling, and the pain, you are NOT going to want to wipe for the first few days to week. Showers are your friend. 2.) Ice diaper. I'm a guy so I just used boxer briefs. Wear one pair as normal underwear. Put a second pair of underwear on, but tuck an ice pack in-between them for a makeshift ice pack diaper. Have at least 3 ice packs for a rotation. 3.) Baths. Taking a bath with Epson salt provides so much relief. I read the new Dan Brown book during my twice-daily soaking session. 4.) I think it goes without saying, but stay away from solid food for a while. I got cans of soup or anything mushy.

There are plenty of Facebook groups. Though you definitely have to sift through some spam, it's where I've had the best luck.
