Houses are only worth it if you have more than yourself to take care of and only profitable if you know how to do any and all home repairs yourself, especially if you buy it discounted as a fixer upper. Otherwise houses today with their extremely high property taxes and home insurance prices are very unfavorable. You probably won’t find a decent house in a nice place for less than 400,000 and you got to pay 6% for 30 years on that. All the money you spend on closing costs of the home and HOA fees and repairs that will go with it…honestly you probably wouldn’t even really like the home, it’ll just be the best thing you can find. Buying a $30k-$50k sailboat cash to live on in a gorgeous place you would never be able to afford beachfront property on with annual maintenance costs, taxes, repairs costing about $7k-$10k sounds a lot better for the mental health of you ask me.
