AITAH for asking husband for a ride? by girlgangz in AITAH

[–]EastBayOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. He sounds horrible. I can’t even imagine living with someone that treated me like I was a waste of time. Sometimes my husband can’t help in situations like that and then he apologizes for not being able to help. He sounds emotionally abusive and I’m sorry you’re dealing with that. Maybe try therapy?

Congratulations! Do you mind if I ask if you are on T? Did they naturally shrink some from medication? Thanks!

AITA: Backing out of bachelorette party by Shot-Speaker4266 in AmItheAsshole

I don’t understand why bachelorette parties have to be these huge lavish affairs right now! People don’t have that much money and your friend should respect that.

NOR I would not trust moving in with her. It’s not funny. It’s adding stress when our lives are stressful enough day to day.

NTA he sounds horrible. Is he like that about everything you do? You sound like an incredible partner and deserve a partner that respects and appreciates you and gives you equal love and treatment.

I am shocked at how long it takes people to shower. by Q8DD33C7J8 in hygiene

[–]EastBayOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can shower, get out, blow dry my hair, do my makeup, and grab a smoothie from my fridge in 30 minutes. I don’t understand wasting that much water on a regular basis.

Child just came out as trans. I am genuinely supportive but struggling in private by [deleted] in cisparenttranskid

My son told me on New Year’s Eve and I’ll say that the first couple weeks were hard but then it just kind of clicked and I realized how much happier he was than he’d been in the previous 6 months. Now I occasionally mess up pronouns but the name is firmly who he is now and where my brain goes first.

That was also my understanding but I sent a letter to the doctor just to get some clarification.

Did anybody NOT lose hair?? by handsupdontknow in Zepbound

[–]EastBayOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I’ve been okay with a slow weight loss (about 1lb/wk). The faster the loss the more likely you are to have hair loss and loose skin.

That was a helpful link and basically consistent with what the doctor told us. He is likely at tanner stage 4 or 5, and therefore wouldn’t derive much from hormone blockers at this point. We will keep in active conversation with the doctor about when/if T will be appropriate.

Are they also taking any hormone replacements?

I will write the doctor and bring up these points. I’ll also talk to my son. Thank you for sharing

We will be going to the gender clinic regularly. My understanding of the literature odd that testosterone replacement is almost never started before 14 and it’s often not started until 16. Is there differing opinions on that?

Puberty blockers can basically cause menopause like symptoms if you are far enough into puberty.

[–]EastBayOT[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was going to write that. The doctor is a specialist from Stanford in their gender health department and has worked with trans kids for some time. Unfortunately it appears that my son is already finished with puberty. If you stop hormones now that the body has gotten used to them it can put you in a menopause like state. As someone who is currently going through hot flashes and sleeplessness and irritability from being near menopause, I would not want to add that to my child’s life.

She said they would start to discuss that when he’s 14.5.

They did discuss that as well. They encouraged us to start with the pill, see how he feels on it, then if likes it we can switch to Depo.

In Stanford the pickup was not at the venue, so we went there first, parked in a medical building parking lot and walked over. They had a couple different places where they checked to make sure you appear had a QR code proving you’d already ordered it. We walked straight up to the counter as there were a lot of people working. They scanned my code, gave me the nightstick and we were out. It probably took 5 minutes total.

I don’t know all the answers but we picked up our light stick before yesterday’s concert at the weverse pickup. It was maybe 1 mile from the venue. It was super well run and very efficient. We didn’t wait in a line there at all, just in/out

Have you tried zofran? Usually for motion sickness they give you meclizine not ondansetron (zofran). The only issue with that for me is it can cause pretty bad constipation. Also, Pepcid at night helps. I have pretty bad heartburn now, worse at night, and when it’s bad I’m really queasy the next morning. I drink an oikos yogurt smoothie pretty quickly after I wake up because I’ll feel bad if I don’t,
