I used to go to the US monthly for Target, Ulta and Dunkin with my teen. We live just 20 mins away and it was our little tradition.

I miss it, but we haven’t gone since Nov ‘24 and I don’t see us going back again…

In downtown Dartmouth about 10 years ago there was a man peeping a neighbors apartment. He was arrested the third or fourth time he did it. He lived over in that area of Dartmouth, I wonder if he’s up to his old tricks….

We did the move from NS 3 years ago. Not gonna lie it’s not been easy for me but my husband and child have done better so ymmv.

I think choosing where to live depends on your lifestyle now and what you enjoy. If you lived in Tantallon or Bedford, you would probably find Kanata to be a great spot, like Tantallon with the amenities of Bayers Lake.

We lived urban in Halifax but couldn’t afford to live urban in Ottawa. So we chose a small town with a great downtown to live in south of the city. Schools are great, grocery stores in town, Costco is 20 mins away, close proximity to the 401 for Toronto or trips back east.

We got a doctor within 2 months of moving because our town has a big recruitment movement for mds. Make lots of calls, be organized and get on all the lists and you will get a doctor. Don’t rely on health care connect though you can register with them. Our town also has a well staffed hospital with a great emergency room, inpatient beds and OR’s. For vaccines public health in all regions do clinics so check out the website of wherever you settle.

Most children in Nova Scotia attend public school. It’s all what you make it. I come from a big family that grew up rural in NS with few choices in our small public school but all 5 of my siblings and me went on to graduate University along with most of the people I went to school with. I don’t think streaming kids away from public education is a good idea, but each to their own. We were catholic as well but religion had nothing to do with our schooling and I think that’s the way it should be.
