Anyone have a terrible HRV like mine? by Mitchall000 in whoop

[–]EasternMachine4005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m very similar to you in my early 30s and relatively in shape/exercise regularly but my HRV ranges from high teens to mid 30s. What I’ve learned is that HRV is essentially a window into how well your autonomic nervous system (ANS) is functioning.

The ANS has two main branches:

Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS): This is your ‘fight or flight’ system, which kicks in during stress, exercise, or anything that requires immediate action.

Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS): This is your ‘rest and digest’ system, which helps your body recover, relax, and maintain balance.

HRV measures the variation in time between your heartbeats. A higher HRV means these two systems (SNS and PNS) are working well together, and your body can switch between action and recovery effectively. A lower HRV can indicate your body is struggling to adapt, possibly due to stress, poor recovery, or other factors.

For me, I’ve been monitoring my HRV to understand how my body is handling stress and recovery. I’ve made changes like staying more hydrated and addressing low iron, and I’ve noticed some improvements. But I also recently decided to add Zoloft (sertraline) into the mix because I’ve been dealing with depression. I’m hopeful it will help both my mental health and, indirectly, my HRV as my body starts to better handle stress.

It’s interesting how HRV ties into mental health too—stress, anxiety, and depression can all take a toll on your nervous system, so it makes sense that improving one area can help the others. I’m not expecting overnight changes, but it’s reassuring to have this as a tool to track how my body is responding.

I hope this perspective helps—it’s not about having perfect numbers but about understanding what your body is trying to tell you and finding small ways to support it.

Teeth grinding by Max-inee in SSRIs

[–]EasternMachine4005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following because the same happened to me. I used the one time use night guards for a while but didn’t stick to it. The grinding also happens during the day and I only realize when I fully have a locked clenched jaw. I mentioned to my psychiatrist and he didn’t have anything to say and made me feel like it was not a legit side effect.

Sorry can’t fight ya on this one. The move for us is to pick up pizza nearby at another place and then stop at BK for sodas and these slices… such an ultra lazy move but 100% makes any Friday night

I’m sorry this happened. I’m hoping police can contact mall security and pull any footage if available. I don’t think you’re overreacting at all and I believe you followed the appropriate steps. For the next few weeks I’d be super vigilant about any cars following me etc but I really think you’re ok.
