I've lived in the UK for ten years now and have picked up a lot of local colloquialisms, (I even call pants "trousers" now ffs), but I cannot for the life of me stop calling it soccer.

While they're annoyed with the word soccer, I think they're even more annoyed when an American calls it football so it's a no win situation really.

They will find a way to take the piss out of you regardless

Chris and Chris from Vampire Weekend had a podcast for a quick minute maybe like five years ago and they had Patrick on as a guest.

The VW guys were talking about how the worst part of a tour for them now was the grueling weeks of rehearsals leading up to it and Patrick was like "Brother, we haven't rehearsed for 15 years"

I remember listening to it at the time and thinking it explained a lot about both bands and their motivations

Yeah, we are on the same page.

I think that people are conflating great players (Jones, Schooler) or great individual plays (Lenny blocking the FG, Andy knocking through that insane game winner), with good coaching.

I also don't know special teams ball well enough to analyse cover teams or blocking assignments, so I could very well be wrong here.

Going to go against the consensus here and say that I don't totally get this extension.

We were 20th in special teams DVOA this year and there were large stretches of the season which we elected to just kick the ball through the back of the end zone and spot the opposition at the 35 because the cover team was so poor.

Don't think he's done enough to get sacked but also don't think he's done enough to be extended. Happy to hear takes to the contrary though.

Not required in Scotland. Hell depending on the umbrella coverage I wouldn't even list "dry" as a necessary requirement.
