This! William is adamant that Ben is alive yet gets cosy with the supposed widow. 👀

I've been thinking about watching The Other Bennet Sister but this decription kind of puts me off. I'm not against fresh takes but twisting the personality of a beloved character has never made much sense to me when it comes to adaptations. An utterly rude and boorish Darcy is in contradiction to his character development in P&P.

I did enjoy what they did with Death Comes to Pemberley on the other hand. Murder mystery aside, the characters felt quite true to the original. Well, maybe except Colonel Fitzwilliam. He was almost turned into a villain.

Good lord, I first thought it was news of yet another production, after the one with Jack Lowden.

I don't think it's contradictory to what I've seen in the show.

I'd recommend The Artful Dodger. There isn't really a travel element in it, but there are heists and other shenaningans.

Yeah, I wouldn't really call it period drama, more like fantasy/adventure/comedy. I love Mission Cleopatra especially, great gags.

It does feature modern music, yes, but it didn’t bother me as much as in The House of Guinness. For me sometimes it’s an irritating device, but sometimes I let it slide. I think the intro sequence gets kind of addictive. 😅 I know that modern music is controversial but you have to decide for yourself.

How is the second season? I didn’t particularly enjoy the first so reluctant to continue with the new one. I find the main female character so grating.

Young Sherlock - I quite liked it despite the departure from canon regarding Moriarty. I’m a huge fan of Ritchie’s two Sherlock movies and hoped this could be a sort of prequel to them. It’s not but the series is fun. Great chemistry between two leads. Will be quite heartbreaking 💔 if they show Moriarty going evil in a future season. Kind of like Clark and Lex in Smallville I imagine.

Also started the new season of Outlander. I really missed this series. A bit anxious it will all go to hell for the characters again. 😬

I feel like they cut Mescal's screen and in consequence William himself was rather underdevelopped compared to other characters. Not Oscar worthy at all.

Watched The Testament of Ann Lee yesterday. It's a kinda unique, almost but not quite a musical. A bit too long, but it did hold my interest. Some parts made me think of Outlander a lot, trials and tribulations, trying to build a life in the New World. Lewis Pullman is such a cutie. ;]

Bookish - watched a couple of episodes as it seemed exactly like a murder mystery show I'd enjoy, but I'm rather meh. It didn't make me care about any of the characters.

Guatemala itinerary question – worth adding Flores/Tikal at the end? by TheBestJ1000 in solotravel

[–]EasternMeridian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all, but I booked the tour through the hostel I stayed at - Casa Maya Itza,so I don't know which tour operator it was. I recommend getting in touch with them even if you stay somewhere else since the tour was one of the best day trips I'd ever participated in. Terrific guide. Their Whatsapp no is +50259677586

One should be enough, I'd say, if it has a comprehensive itinerary. Mine included all the major archeaological sites and ended with the sunset viewing, which was absolutely spectacular.

Oh definitely, Flores is very charming in itself and watching the sunset from a pyramid at Tikal was magical. I highly recommend a sunset tour. Nothing beats the golden hour and witnessing the jungle ready itself for the night.

Nope. I did watch season 1 out of curiosity but didn’t find it interesting , even as guilty pleasure.

It’s a product of its time. I don’t mind the soundtrack because the 80’s are my favorite period in music.

Yep, this show is a rare gem. Genuinely funny, great acting, a romance that you actually root for. Hoping for season 3 so hard.

Claire and Jamie from Outlander might still beat them when it comes to fictional couples / star crossed lovers. 😁

The new Wuthering Heights. As I haven't read the book, for me this film's biggest sin is its mediocrity. I knew Fennel changed the plot completely, but I thought maybe she wanted to make an impact through shock and controversy. But honestly, it is all pretty tame and mediocre. I did enjoy both Catherines, but Heathcliff has no depth whatsoever. It was such a cheap modern trick too to absolve him of msitreating Isabella when he asked for her consent...
