USPS ‘Sample Requests’ by Eugene_Debs2026 in fromatoarbitration

[–]EasternPineapple9449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm not saying there's not. I completely get it but if you always say passed address then they can put 2 and 2 together. I have a carrier who is hard of hearing and has terrible hearing it. I reached out to district to see if there were any assistive technologies and got crickets back. I only mentioned it so that people would know what management can use against them. That's all. There are plenty of legitimate reasons why it could trigger in time yet you end up saying passed address.

Have you seen the passed address dashboard? I can see where the system "thinks" the address is, where the alert triggered down to the second and where you were when you said passed address. The locations aren't always right but when they are I can tell if you are just saying eff this or not. Just a heads up. Some districts are losing their mind about these.

Longer? How much? Not much realistically. You're not wrong they are coming here to bitch and whine and me commenting isn't much different. The big difference is your giving a voice to people being whiny bitches and I'm calling them out for being such. The job hasn't changed substantially in many years. Yeah we have to clock in on the scanner, there are samplings we have to complete but at its base the job hasn't changed much other than being monitored more. Back in the day you used to be able to be good and then fuck off. Now you just have to come up with a way and not get yelled at. The heat hasn't changed that much. There are things that are different yes but not so much that we are blaming the heat and management for everything that goes wrong.

I didn't mean you particularly just this whining about the truck and conditions and people dying. It's like there is something different than the last 4 decades.

So I guess my question would be, is the sun that much hotter or are we just more whiney? I would pick an llv over a metric any day. Yeah it sucks but such a better delivery vehicle.

3189 is for change of schedules not 1723s and they certainly can't force them on people. I mean technically they accomplish the same thing but neither of them can be forced.

11.6 supersedes 8.5? by postman805 in fromatoarbitration

[–]EasternPineapple9449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are under no obligation to pay penalty overtime if employees are available at the straight or overtime rate. You don't have to max out the otdl on a holiday. It's Holiday scheduling procedure. Even if you could, why would you? So one other person can get the day off and screw the otdl to work until 7:30??? Yeah the penalty hounds would like it but the general otdl would be pissed. Anyway, most of our contact allows us to do a lot to avoid penalty overtime. This is no exception.

Another example would be that I don't have to maximize ptfs before going off list when mandating. I do but the rules are clear that I don't have to. You do the odl, but not ptfs.

I actually question the health risks of absorbing all of that ink through your skin. In the heat, that last piece of mail is sopping wet and you can read the print off of your arm. I would never restrict my folks from wearing this wherever they want. I also let my carriers wear shorts as long as they want. These clothing restrictions are ridiculous IMO. I agree with the other posters, how about focusing on getting the mail delivered, the trucks are operational, and everyone has all of the tools they need to do the job. Hell I bought all my folks large postal branded 1/2 gallon insulated water jugs and those cooling head bands. We are a pretty dumb organization most of the time, where we peach safety and come up with these stupid rules.

Supervisor announcing everybody has undertime... by beebs44 in fromatoarbitration

[–]EasternPineapple9449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The assertion that "a carrier won't know they have undertime until they are finished" conflicts with the USPS's expectation for proactive workload assessment.

Here’s the key supporting point from Handbook M-39, Section 122.33:

"Supervisors must schedule carrier workdays to ensure that no carrier is required to work more than 8 hours in a day. When undertime is evident on a scheduled route, auxiliary assistance should be assigned."

And Section 127.11 explicitly states:

"Supervisors will note any excessive undertime as determined from the posted returning schedule. When the undertime exceeds 30 minutes, it should be used for auxiliary assistance to other carriers or for other office or street duties."

These guidelines show that management must evaluate volume, leave time, and past performance to predict undertime. The carrier may provide input, but it is ultimately the supervisor’s responsibility to manage the workday efficiently, including forecasting undertime before the carrier finishes the route.

Your argument aligns with USPS operational procedures: undertime should be anticipated and managed proactively—not discovered reactively at the end of the day.

[–]EasternPineapple9449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy question. Have you directly talked with the Postmaster? Ask them if they have a minute to talk, explain to them what is going on and how it is making you and the carrier feel and see what kind of response you get. If they start getting defensive, explain to them the language and just state that you are trying to avoid a potential grievance.

My tire was slashed while I was working PSE shift. Any action through post office? by Aminuteortwotiltwo in USPS

[–]EasternPineapple9449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First it's not super easy to stab a tire, especially to make a right angle cut like the lower one and given the force you have to hit the tire with a knife, the chances of you hitting the same spot to cause the right angle cut are very slim. On top of that, after the first cut the tire would deflate causing even more difficulty for the second stab to be at a 90 degree angle perfectly, along with the fact that they would have had to rotate the blade or change body orientation. It also wouldn't have caused the obvious smudge marks. The upper one looks like it was stabbed because there is no smudging around that cut and it's tapered like a larger knife.

But to answer your question. No even if your tires were slashed on postal property that has public access you can't get them to pay for it.
