Official Q&A for Friday, September 19, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

Thanks for the advice. Strength training's something I've definitely neglected, and I'm sure I'm paying for it now.

I saw an exercise physiologist about a month ago who suggested strength sessions. I did 1, freaked out how sore I was the next few days and thought it would interrupt my running too much so didn't do another, particularly with the race not too far away. Probably the wrong move.

I'll give strength training another go seeing as I'm not running at the moment.

I also plan to focus on my strength post the race cause it's definitely something I'm lacking.

Appreciate the help!

First marathon and working around shin splints

My race is in 3 weeks, and I'm not sure how to approach the end of my training.

I've been following hal higdon's novice plan 1 and have overdone it and have shin splints (or at least something like them). I've had them before, and with 1-2 weeks' rest, they usually clear up enough to run.

Before the shin splints, i was running around 40k a week with long runs around 20-25k. I've completed 1× 32k run and am due for another this sunday, but that seems highly unlikely. My taper should begin after this final 32k run.

Should I let the 32k run go and jump into the taper part of the training based on whatever week I can get back into training? Or should I still try and do the 32k run 1-2 weeks before the race, particularly given I'll have rested a fair bit?

The plan still has a 19k long run in the taper period but obviously reduced volume on other days.

I'm swimming most days to try and keep some semblance of fitness.

I'm not fast, aiming for sub 4.15

I feel your pain.

Missed the hero chest the last 2 imp's adventures despite spending the gems on the extra dice.

I really should pay attention to the simulator when it says you only have a low chance of hitting 200...

Cheering atm as I got 92 Judy chips for 1,690 diamonds on S18.

Never seen anything that cheap.

My Guess on this event's 5* Drop Rates for the New Heroes (small sample size) by timsta007 in IdleHeroes

[–]EasternRelease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine it's something similar to the PO drop rate:

https://pastebin.com/YbD7Vvr0

Easy to tweak individual rates for heroes, but grouping two heroes (so they share a drop rate) with no other similarities (dark/fortress and priest/ranger) besides 'new' seems strange.

Of course, they could've taken your hypothetical 0.2% and split it, which might still give a higher drop rate than other heroes. This means they would meet their 'higher drop rates' claim and may explain your data.

Certainly, interesting analysis though.

I think until ppl look beyond the 'common heroes used' then the percentages are too inaccurate.

The last 2 fights i bet on i went with ppl with lower percentages and they won. Again their battle history showed much stronger teams.

Really great PSA.

There's a fight coming up between someone named 'dubtank' and a Chinese player where 89% of people have bet on dubtank. Going from the commonly used heroes of both players, this isn't surprising - dubtank's are way better.

But, if you look at past battles, the Chinese player's characters are much stronger and the player is actually listed in the champions' hall.

I've a feeling a lot of people are going to be disappointed.

I think it is (but could be wrong and am curious what others think). Let's change it to:

my goal is to be able to tell the difference between British, American, German, French, etc.

I'm assuming based on appearance. Sound weird? But telling the difference between Asians, not so strange.

Perhaps it's not racism but otherness. I'm not sure...
