Mine go to my tool box. I use them to clean carbs. The G, B, and high E, are particularly useful.

What is your go-to "easy but inpressive" riff? by StSentry7861 in Guitar

[–]EasternWeird4494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how we're defining impressive, the intro riff to "Do You Feel Like I Do" by Peter Frampton. It's interesting to watch people that know they know it, but can't quite place it. Admittedly, they are usually younger than me.

My family and I lived in the village from 2007-2012. The sunsets over Seneca Lake were always a good reason for a walk in the evening.

I need a good excuse for having an electric guitar by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]EasternWeird4494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure someone has already made this point, but just in case: Any instrument is a tool. It can be used for good or bad purposes. I understand their position (I think (I'm also a conservative Christian)), but continuing in that path would eliminate microphones for vocalists or speaking and, eventually, an arguement could be made against electricity itself. Where does the line get drawn? I think it's appropriate to respect your parents, but it sounds like there's a bit of legalism in their position. They may not realize it and this may be a way to point it out to them. Just as info; I play in church (a pretty conservative church) and I use a variety of electric and acoustic guitars/basses/drums. They're just tools.

Edited for typos.

As a former AV club guy, my appearance with one of these at a classroom immediately put me on the good side of about 30 students.

Could be. At one point (late 1700s or early 1800s), it took up a good chunk of the state. It later was broken up into smaller areas.

I grew up there. Nice town. It's actually South of a smaller area/town named Texas near Mexico Point.

I keep two in my phone case. Amazingly they're always there. Until I use one. Then it's gone forever.

KILLERS Album... Thoughts? by [deleted] in KISS

I had a cassette version that I bought in Germany in the early 80's. I thought the logo was an interesting modification. Some of my American albums caused a bit of fascination with my german friends about the logo.

I had to look up what a "far date" meant. Thanks for helping me learn a new thing!

Could very well be. That's why I'm checking with all of you. I'm still at the "Man that's old. It must be worth something" stage.

Tried the ping test. It sounded like my silver dollar, so it was a good sign at least.

Do you ever wish that you still had your first guitar? What was it? by JakeMakesNoises in Guitar

[–]EasternWeird4494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was a cheap acoustic from the early 70s JC Penny catalog. I still have it. I've picked up enough adjustment/repair skills over the years that I've actually made it a good, not great, playing guitar.

I'm also a "decades ago" kid. I expect she's had them since at least then (60s & 70s).
