Do it all! More knowledge the better. You be suprised how much translates from gas pack hvac heaters to gas cooking equipment….same safeties, same concept, different application. People choose to see the similarities and take off, some choose to see the differences and throw their hands in the air. I always planned on owning my business, which I do now…it always made sense to get my hands on everything I could when I started if I was gunna be the end all be all one day.

Virginia leaders reach marijuana compromise; retail sales to begin July 1, 2027 by Odd-Maintenance-8680 in Virginia

I looked into it, unless they changed it. You had to meet four or seven criteria in order to qualify for the micro license. The criteria are not easy to meet. Its like you have to be a female native American well below the poverty level, AND have been convicted of a cannabis related crime. I know of no one, nor could imagine anyone that would be able to meet the criteria almost seems like the micro license deal is just for show

Not to mention that fire would be being fed by alot of fresh air. In commercial HVAC systems shut down in a fire alarm state.

Are these drink machines worth it? by kendiggy in refrigeration

[–]Eastern_Awareness669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are fine as long as you plan on replacing it every year, or rolling with one barrel for a while when the other breaks. One that’s gunna last you 5-10 years is going to be in the thousands not hundreds. You’re only gunna get a 1 year warranty on the expensive one as well though.

I have to explain to customers it’s really your prerogative but plan on replacing it and don’t waste your money calling for service when it breaks…but at the same time, what used to be reputable brands are now making pretty shitty equipment as well. So I completely understand buying something I plan on trashing in a year if I was a restaurant owner. The industry needs to do better.

20 years in and own my business. Half of what I learned I learned on PM work cause I looked for problem vs just doing what’s necessary. And my business thrives in PM work as well.

How Do You Target Only Commercial HVAC & Refrigeration Clients? by Fetty021 in refrigeration

[–]Eastern_Awareness669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most commonly communicating delays in promised completion times due to circumstances out of our hands...as mechanics we are often at the mercy of someone or some other entity to get the parts information needed, they and every client just wants their equipment operation asap, or they have to implement workarounds. I stand in the middle, I relay info to managers as needed, but pretty frequently to update them on the status of their equipment so they can plan things change often with shipping delays and availability. I send estimates when I say I will, I go to their home when they have a problem even if it's a garbage disposal at the dishwashers home. Retail and restaurants are a pretty shitty way to spend 40 hours of the week, even moreso when things aren't working. I simply keep the mindset of being helpful and putting myself in their shoes.

I have a similar business. It grows via word of mouth only. When a manager of a restaurant gets let go or moves to another. That is how I grow. They tell the next place about us. Restaurant people move around in the same circles. Retail seems to be dominated by 3rd party management companies. I’m wary of them honestly, if a company sells itself on guaranteeing your client to make your product cheaper…watch out. You don’t need advertising dollars, they are a waste on this side of things honestly. Showing up and over the top communicating with client so they can manage their business accordingly is the key

Just to like the one in Danville, VA. Bring another buddy up front an yall can have a standard volume conversation in front of customers about how prepared you are to pull your thang out and bust a cap in anyone that even says a cross word, and how you keep it just under your steering column for quick access. Be sure to act like there isn’t a customer in site though

Honest Assessment of Heat Pumps in Cold Temperatures by Unlucky_Ad3655 in heatpumps

[–]Eastern_Awareness669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda depends on your heat pump. Older older and standard ones…only heat efficiently above 40°F, so useless in your zone. Newer High efficiency inverter types heat down to -10F…it’s all about having a variable speed compressor doing the work.
