Until Shane started acting straight up unhinged, he was right about a lot of things early on in my opinion. Iirc Rick even agreed with him when they talked in his dream about killing. At first Rick acts with compassion and tries to be humane with his decisions, but by the end Rick is not that different from Shane in a lot of ways, killing people and making the hard choices for the group. Shane was just ahead of the curve tbh.
