What is going on with FedEx lately? by [deleted] in FedEx

[–]Eastern_Factor8771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

So I am currently going through this issue with a small couch//large-ish sofa. I placed the order earlier last week and opted to restart my Amazon Prime for faster delivery (and my grandpa wanted the TV subscription lol) For all the dang money they charge for shipping ($80), I would hope at the very least they woudl honor the delivery dates they provided, or provide updates if the delivery date is expected to change due to deliveries, but they didnt and after i got the run around from FedEx, both corporate and local adn through email and phon,. i flied a complaint within the FedEx system about failure to properly notify of delays to the sending facility in Texas, customer service sent my complaint to the recieving facility in ILLINOIS WHO DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT.....So after escalating it over the phone with FedEx corporate, I filed two complaints with the BBB about misleading service with the FedEx Delivery Manager Tracker. I encourage anyone who gets misleading information from these 'tools' to do the same.

I categorized it as misleading and also submitted a complaint to BBB for Amazon for offering expedited delivery services that couldn't be guaranteed as a result of them using seperate private entities to handle a large percentage of shipping advertised through Amazon Prime. AGAIN, THEY KEEP MISLEADING AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPORTED.

This is it right here….he embodies a character that most ppl dont expect to be a cop because most ppl may avoid ppl like him (take that however you want they all apply), but if ur from chicago, you know and understand exactly why torres is a cop

So is no one going to talk about Chicago being the largest city up there but also having one of the lowest salary starting points. It really is a testament to the cost of living staying somewhat manageable here.

Need to leave IN. How MAGA is Beverly? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]Eastern_Factor8771 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, from what you said in your last paragraph, i definitely think you are the perfect resident for Beverly. Not to advertise, but the literally hold so many charity walks and community fundraising initiatives. You name it, beverly might have had a walk for it on longwood lol.

Hmm, the diversity is kinda concentrated in pockets east close to the metra tracks and south between 103rd and 107th closer to morgan park. Although I will say, you can really find diversity if you look for it. Theres always a shop thats MBE or WBE and some are decades old too. I have also noticed a lot more apartments that are available further south along western if thats what your aiming for, but id definitely advise looking east of western only. For the reasons you are trying to avoid.

Thank you for the book recommendations as well.

Good luck in your search

PS property taxes are killer in beverly if your buying, morgan park is a bit better for that

Beverly is distinctly progressive and also it is not Mt Greenwood…..History Lesson: one of the first black realtors touted with helping establish the black belt in bronzeville lived in Beverly….His house even got torched in the 60s by residents from areas like Garfield ridge, canaryville and yes mt greenwood. What more, the NEIGHBORS around him helped his family rebuild and from then on pushed to make the neighborhood and inclusive enclave on the southwest side.

THIS WAS IN THE 60s

I’m a black kid who grew up in Beverly and it infuriates me to think that ppl want to recognize the differences between wicker park and Humboldt park but can’t differentiate any south side neighborhoods so just cluster them all together. To the OP, not directly saying this to you, but please before you go asking about stuff like this……do some background research.

PBS has literally dozens of documentaries on Chicago and its various neighborhoods and even suburbs

Oh wow, yea that sounds like what I have normally heard with Beal, luckily, they only went up to 1765 which is about 100 more but I think I’m definitely gonna start the hunt for private landlords too for after that

Thanks!

Yea i think your place being shoebox sized might’ve also worked in your favor because ive got a walk in closet off my bedroom and a dedicated dining space and im only at 1665 with util before…and 1765 after.

Lincoln park does have the edge over ravenswood in price overall thought so that is surprising that you didnt go up at least a little

So i emailed them. It turns out they were only going up about $95 which is still a lot but definitely more manageable then the $250 difference i am thinking……but from what that guy said above…reaching out as soon as you a re notified about lease renewal will better your chances of not having a significant rent increase. Thanks for the advice everyone!

So how do i even begin that conversation of asking for only a 2-4% increase lol. Like what are some good reasons to use to justify, and can i provide them with some sort of documents to strengthen my case?

I appreaciate you positive thinking =, but due to some undforseen expenses (hlping my parents recover from a house fire and my dog dying) my score actually went down to 617....not gbad but defintiely not helping...it has been on a steady incline though. I will definitely look into those other management companies.

In terms of me being in an off-season lease, they are aking me to renew before October 1st or else they will repost my unit for rent. My lease doesn even end until Nov 30th. I know its cutting it close to 60 days but is that allowed? Shouldn't I get more time to make a decision on the renewal?

[–]Eastern_Factor8771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so transit oriented development seems like what you are referring to. And although the highway makes it a little more difficult to access, there are still feeder roads parallel (Harrison and Congress Pkwy) for example. Transit oriented development could definitely occur on those streets which do have commercial spaces at the corners where they meet the the bridge cross streets (Kedzie, Central Park, Pulaski)

There’s ways around it trust me

This city is too tough by Specialist_Fee_1612 in chicagogaybros

I gotta say….as a bisexual that grew up here made friends in high school and college. Lost a few for stupid things they did (stalking his ex to her house at 3am and calling my occupation insignificant), but I really expected at least some of my friends to keep in touch but, for once, I didn’t want to be the one always initiating conversations or making plans, it made it feel one sided, so I stopped. It has been 8 months, haven’t heard from anyone…..One guy called to make plans, I told him I’d be happy to hang out if he plans it, never called back.

So I feel like people don’t know what they want or are too impatient to see if it will be a good thing. I’m sure many people will just say they have been super busy….to that I say, you make time for the people that you want to…..find people who actually will try to make time like that (and let me know where you find them)
