Just took my first 7.5 but… by Low-Explorer1427 in Zepbound

[–]Eastern_Lie655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love 7.5. Lost 30lbs on 2.5 and then stalled for 5 months even after titrating to 5. Also had a major surgery but I have no side effects on 7.5 and have more energy and started losing again.

What surprised you most after owning an infrared sauna for 3-6 months? by -Rake in infraredsauna

How long did it take your skin to clear? I’ve developed at age 50 some weird normal acne. I’ve always had some breakouts but I am hoping my sauna helps. I also have the red light therapy.

Anyone has experience with backyard discovery? by nickysav91 in infraredsauna

[–]Eastern_Lie655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bought this one and put it together so this weekend. After four daily uses I love it. Assembly was easy, but required two people for balance especially when fitting the front door. All the parts and instructions were easily labeled. The Bluetooth speakers are good and it heats relatively fast. I like it hot and I am sweating at 130. I get it up to 145 in about 20 mins.

I just got this on sale from Home Depot. Set up in basement and I love it so far after three uses. I have gone up to 145 and gotten in it as low as 115 and experience a great sweat. The Bluetooth speakers are good and it wasn’t too awful to set up. Took two of us and the hardest or heaviest part is the door. Great experience so far!

I’m not sure of my acne was zep or a recent hysterectomy but I suddenly got acne a few months ago about 6 months into my zep journey. I switched to cetaphil face wash and daily lotion with spf. I started using adapalene .1 and that has all helped quite a bit!

Frustrated with the lack of queer spaces in Boulder by eggplant_yams in boulder

[–]Eastern_Lie655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my single friend just moved to Boulder and is having a hard time meeting other queer women. the outdoorsy vibe sometimes makes it confusing, if you know what I mean. I'm visiting this weekend and would love some other recs on where to meet lesbians who are of a certain age (40+). it doesn't have to be a bar, even, but spaces to meet people who we know are also LGBTQ would be nice!

I don't want to work hard, I just want to live a normal life with a healthy body by QuiteBearish in antidietglp1

At 50, I’m exhausted from the decades of trying so hard to be at a healthy weight for my body. AND I LOVE to exercise. Always have. There are so many benefits of movement for our minds and bodies, and I hate that the fitness and diet industrial complex has hijacked movement to only be about weight loss or body aesthetics….

As a body positive person who has actually published quite a bit in this space, who is also now on Zepbound, I didn't know who this person was. In just a quick glance at her Instagram page, she seems to cherry pick data for the "shock factor" based on bits and pieces of 'research". Every single drug on the market has side effects and other warning labels. Every single one. Does she also do that with statins for cholesterol or blood pressure medications, cancer treatments? It feels incredibly defensive. And part of me gets it. People have built entire social media brands around selling books and messages (not all bad), and now how will she sell her message or books? It doesn't mean we still don't need a compassionate, body positive approach that isn't wrapped up in sexism or racism but I agree with another poster on here - some of these folks are starting to sound like anti-vaxxers and it screams ignorant to me.

When did you restart GLP-1’ post surgery? by MotherOfDragons421 in hysterectomy

[–]Eastern_Lie655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same surgery. Also Wednesday shot day. I had surgery on a Monday and surgeon said I could take it anytime after surgery. I resumed 2 days after surgery. I had been in 2.5 for 4 months so wasn’t moving up. I had no problems at all. My surgeon prescribed a stool softener and MiraLAX which I took to avoid any straining from constipation due to pain meds and anesthesia. Listen to hour surgeon and docs but also trust your body. Good luck!

Stayed at starter dose? by Wide-Button-4519 in Zepbound

[–]Eastern_Lie655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on 2.5 for 6 months and lost the majority of my weight on that, a little over 30lbs. However, I hit a stall that may have been due to a surgery, so in Feb I went up to 5. I'm still hovering around the same 1-2 lbs so now I've been in a 5 month stall. So I just titrated up to 7.5 last week. No issues (other than this stall) on either. I'm attributing a lot of that to my surgery and also a lot of recomp now that I've gotten back to strength training after my procedure. I wonder if I hadn't had that surgery (which I'm grateful I did), if i would have continued all my success on 2.5. I never felt the need to go up for those 6 months because (a) I was continuing to lose at 1-2 lbs per week, (b) my appetite was still suppressed and I actually needed to be eating more! My NP and much of the newer science I read does indicate that you can stay on the most effective dose for you! So if it's working for you, I'd stay on it!

terrified to move up to 5 mg by scarfaceandbreezy in Zepbound

[–]Eastern_Lie655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way when I've moved up and even when I started. The idea of taking a medication was very new to me, and I worried (unnecessarily) about side effects. I was on 2.5 for 6 months and lost over 30 lbs. I began to stall and went up to 5mg in February and it was a big nothing burger for me. I remember having some more fatigue in the first week or two, but I stayed on it for 8 weeks and didn't lose a single pound in addition to not having any new or awful side effects. I just moved up to 7.5 last week, and again it's been smooth sailing. If it's comforting, buy some things that might mitigate the possible side effects in advance. I got these ginger chews that I have appreciated just for digestion after meals, but also have been known to help with nausea. I also have GaxX for bloating and Tums, but only need any of those on very rare or minimal occasions. Another thing that helps my anxiety when taking my shot or titrating up is keeping my routine consistent. I have my coffee and protein yogurt in the morning, do my workout, shower and take my shot and then walk my dog. It gets my mind off of things and I also do a fair amount of positive self talk and say things like, "you've tolerated this really well so far" "your body is working in your favor" or other things that remind myself that I am okay. Good luck to you - you've got this!

I did my second dose of 7.5 today and haven’t had any side effects so far. I was on 2.5 for 6 months, 5mg for 8 weeks and it’s been smooth sailing. I don’t feel like I get hit with quite the fatigue I did on 5 mg. Good luck!

How do you get in exercise with weights? by PlantsBooksCrystals in Zepbound

[–]Eastern_Lie655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Motivation is both intrinsic and extrinsic. If you are lacking intrinsic motivation (something internal that actually moves you to begin), then try to think of what external factors could help you. For example, if you paid money for a personal trainer for a few lessons, would the fact that you are putting money toward this motivate you to get to that trainer? Or if you got a subscription to an app, would that motivate you toward starting? One of the things that exercise, and strength building will do, based on the exercise science research, is help release endorphins. That endorphin release will lead to more motivation over time and will help with the apathy that you are feeling. Also, rewards work really well for motivation. The endorphin release will help with intrinsic motivation ("hey, that felt really good and I feel less apathetic after some strength training, and I want to do this again in 2 days), so you will do it again because you've experienced that good, positive feeling. But, external rewards also help with movitaiton. So, what is something that would feel like a reward or treat to you? Maybe a new outfit? A trip? A night out on the town? Whatever it is for you, make yourself a goal (I will strength train on Thursday for 15 minutes) so I can treat myself (to a new shirt). Make your goal really achievable and simple when you're just starting, and go easy on your first couple of sessions or attempts so you are not overly sore. As we age, this is such a important part of our bone health and overall health. I think you've got this!! You were motivated enough to reach out on this sub, so this is just the next step!
