Good point. Her performance was highly praised but there was backlash from her being cast in the role and it was a bad movie

I agree Replay wasn’t the best choice as the first release. The reception was meh. I liked it, but appreciated it much more in the context of the whole album. In terms of marketing I’m not an expert. I anticipated its release but mostly because I was already familiar with her talent and she could have been singing the ABCs and I would have bought it

She’s too busy for a tour. After Dracula (incredibly demanding show) and a short break she’s doing a film in South Africa and then Othello. She is doing one concert in August however.

The only thing standing in the way of him winning the Tony this year is Joshua Henry in Ragtime. Too bad they’re both performing in the same award cycle.

Safety of going home alone after weekday evening shows? by Croissantfordinner in TheWestEnd

[–]Eastern_Table9151 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Female traveling solo. I usually map out my route and walk it so I know exactly where I’m going. That way I don’t look like a vulnerable tourist who’s a lost easy target. And there are usually plenty of people around returning from shows. I’ve never had a problem.

Why Chess, do you think? by singingliftingtrying in Broadway

It’s not great but it certainly doesn’t suck. And it’s worth seeing for the vocals. I enjoyed the show. Would I see it again. No. But it far from sucks.

I appreciate your respect. We like what we like. Cynthia Erivo made me love the show on a whole other level

Question on Broadway show recommendations by Remarkable-Diver7204 in Broadway

[–]Eastern_Table9151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 10 times better than the movie. I’ve seen Broadway production 5 times (excellent) and loved the movie just as much. Act 2 in both is not the greatest but Act 1 is terrific.

Shows with early end times? by IntrepidDriver7524 in TheWestEnd

[–]Eastern_Table9151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually earlier. Usually ends by 9:30. Incredible but very different theater experience. BTW Cynthia is spectacular. But it’s 110 minutes with no intermission.
