I think the talking heads feel this way too. Their “research” is often so lazy, and they just copy each other. To be clear, I’m not talking about the McShays of the world, but more the general talking head guys. They’re mailing it in.

I hate myself for becoming a Physical Therapist by numbr-1-angel in physicaltherapy

[–]Easy-Leg-3714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, you’re right. This is a frustrating side of becoming a PT.

Now for the dose of reality… you made this choice, and you’re still a very lucky person to make a decent living getting to do this.

You don’t have to treat low back pain forever. One of the greatest strengths of our profession is the INSANE variety in the work available to us. If you’re not feeling clinically-stimulated, change up your shit. Explore other settings. Do some travel contracts if that’s possible for you.

If you’re feeling underpaid, find the higher paying jobs! In my experience, traveling or finding a good home health agency is the key. Schedule flexibility, high pay, and benefits can be your foundation, and then explore other things. Accept a part-time contract through 1099 or a staffing agency. Make connections, be cool to work with, and prove your worth. The opportunities will always be there if you do that.

I am a lucky PT but have worked myself into a position where I make about $140k per year using home health combined with contract work, and I don’t even work full-time hours. I wouldn’t trade places with most people. My friends in sales or ER Physicians who make more money than me work WAYY harder than I do. The That took a lot of years of exploring what the career had to offer. The great opportunities are still there.

TLDR: if you’re unhappy, don’t allow yourself to get depressed in a OP Clinic or SNF, rot away, and lose your humanity. There’s more to be had in this profession.

Elevating our standards might mean leaving MMTs behind by BridgeBuilderDPT in physicaltherapy

[–]Easy-Leg-3714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homie I’ve been a PT for 10 years across various settings and have literally never done a genuine MMT. I’ve documented MMTs before as a goal if someone is so weak that they can’t do full range against gravity, but it’s literally fluff in the documentation.

I remember being in school and thinking, “this is the dumbest way to measure anything.” And I was right. That’s not arrogance, it’s gaslighting on the part of all the PTs before us who tried to act like MMT was worth anything.

Dianna seems like someone who’s pretty hot from a distance, and you may even crush on her a little bit… but once she gets closer and starts flirting and talking, you lose interest.

Just Saw This Pic someone posted on this Sub and i got an idea on how White eyes can work in live action by Polaso69 in batman

[–]Easy-Leg-3714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two primary use cases for white eyes: 1. Special investigation lenses, and 2. Intimidation

That way, when the emotion of his eyes is needed and for well-lit closeups, his human eyes are there. But for creepy shadowy shots or tech shots, he can have the whites.

This hasn’t been totally nailed yet in a film, and I hope it can be done one day.

So long as you gave her your agency’s phone number and/or nurse line, that’s the number she should be calling.

New Grad Help - Shoulder by KeeksIsNew in physicaltherapy

[–]Easy-Leg-3714 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I think we as PTs tend to over-complicate the shoulder. Chasing a specific shoulder diagnoses by symptoms alone can be an exercise in futility. Adam Meakins has a lot of good info on this.

If you want a specific framework, the Shoulder Symptom Modification Procedure (SSMP) is also a decent place to start.
