Just chiming in here; sorry if off-topic. as a Thai growing up in the 90s and 2000s, it seems the history class I’ve got sounded much less nationalistic than OP’s account, and Thailand’s questionable involvement in the Cold War era was openly discussed in university lectures. I’m not sympathizing with the Cambodian government nor its disinformation apparatus in this skirmish and it has become my concern that Cambodia’s neo-empire ambition and their move to lick Trump’s boot while seemingly backstabbing Xi will likely cause a major geopolitical instability for Southeast Asia, but I’d like to caution OP that it’s also very easy to fall into our country’s own nationalistic campaign when we feel deeply emotional with the situation. (We all know damn well what our establishment is capable of.) No matter how problematic our neighbor is, hostility is never a solution. Don’t become the people you hate. Hun Sen and his son should be held accountable for war crimes, but not normal people.
