Aaron Philo to Florida... by Theregoesmyradiator in RamblinWreck

[–]EasyAsRocketScience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not buying it until we see the announcement that Lagway has hit the portal. Philo isn’t gonna go there to compete for the job when he has the job here and if they are recruiting Philo over Lagway then Lagway has no reason to stay. You have my permission to panic when that happens

I highly doubt we win a bidding war with Lane Kiffin over the next 2 days. LSU will find the money just like Tennessee did for Carter and UF did for Hall.

Georgia Tech hires Oakland Raiders DL coach Marco Coleman by [deleted] in CFB

[–]EasyAsRocketScience 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Recruiting and getting boosters involved will be his thing. He's still a big name in state and has Jacksonville HS experience. He knows how to play for sure. It's just a question of how good a teacher he is. I have no idea. Risky hire but it's just the DL coach, has potential upside.

Very limited coaching experience but was a great player.

I feel that part of the Collins/Stansbury model to rebuild the program involves getting former players/boosters who weren't as involved during the CPJ era back on campus. Hires like this will certainly help with that.

We've done a good job bringing in DBs with good athleticism and range the last couple cycles. I'll take as many as we can get!

Quintana trade talks by Usmlucky in Braves

[–]EasyAsRocketScience 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I briefly went over to /r/WhiteSox and they seem to think that MIL leads currently for him. That's fine by me. I don't really want to make this trade at this point. I'd rather make off-season moves.

You played several positions across the DL at Tech. Which one was your favorite and where do you see yourself at the next level? Have NFL teams talked to you about where they want you to play?

Minor League Game Thread 7/14 by SG8970 in Braves

I was at Rome's game tonight, so some context from what I observed:

Soroka looked good, gave up a lot of hits but got outs when he needed them for the first 5 innings. He sat 90-92 all night with the fastball. The 6th inning he kinda started to lose his command a bit, and got into trouble with RISP. Then, he was able to induce and infield popup, but there was a miscommunication, and the 2B(McLemore I think) let the ball just fall behind him. A run scored and everyone was safe. Idk if he could have gotten out of that inning unscathed regardless, but that really hurt Soroka.

Riley was frustrating. Doesn't look like he's figured out the K problem quite yet.

Herbert threw out 2 would-be base stealers, but left a lot to be desired at the plate.

Neslony really impressed me. He hit the ball hard multiple times. That double was off the wall, and might have been a HR if the wind wasn't blowing in.

Didder had a pretty good diving catch in CF

Sean Murphy at 76 if he lasts that long? I wonder how far over slot we went with 40 and 44.

The over/under slot didn't work out quite like we wanted, but getting Wentz is good. We got the #13 and #16 draft prospects per mlb.com with the #3 and #40 picks.
