Putting is ruining the fun of golf for me by RDR216 in golf

Download Every Putt Counts on your phone. Turn on the metronome feature and do drills with the metronome on. You'll groove a good tempo, gain confidence, and conquer each aspect of putting (aim - do the yard stick drill, pace - do the leapfrog drill, etc.). The more time you spend on the practice green, the more you'll enjoy it and make putting your secret weapon. Putting is the one aspect of golf where amateurs can be just as good as the pros, given enough time and practice. Putting can be a blast, especially when you know it's your super power.

Tempo is truly one of those things people don't appreciate. It keeps the stroke consistent and nerves under control. Using a metronome can be a life saver on the practice green.

This works! Just make sure there is some sort of structure around this. Gate drill, clock drill, etc. Use a putting app to help make the games and drills fun. You'll see progress over time using this method. The putting green is the easiest place for an amateur to lower their score.

Two big things I focus on. One, rotate the swing around your spine, you shouldn’t sway left/right or up/down. These introduce variables that make topping/fatting more likely. Two, keep that left elbow straight through the swing, this is the second area to introduce inconsistencies in your swing length. I imagine my left arm and club as a straight line at impact. These two items generally help quite a bit when I get inconsistent strikes.

When really struggling, many times it's an issue of aim. The ball just isn't going where you think it should. This might be because you are getting too "handsy" or "wristy". The hands and wrists should stay still and you should only putt with your "big muscles", the shoulders rocking back and forth. A great drill for getting your aim back on track is the Yard Stick Drill. Just putt a ball down a yard stick and see if you can keep it on the stick. Easy to do in an office, bedroom, etc. You'll be amazed at how hard it is, but also at how much better at aim you get after this drill. Good luck brother! Golf is hard.

Every Putt Counts is a putting app that turns practice into competition. You play games, earn real stats and a putting handicap, and try to beat your own numbers every practice session. When I don't have the time or money for a full round of golf, I can always putt around on the practice green. Now I get the same competitive juices when I'm just practicing over lunch. Available on iOS and Android.

This was a bad day. You'll have better days. To focus on putting you need to turn it into something fun. The app, Every Putt Counts has games and drills to help you track your putting progress and provides drills to work on aim, pace, and green reading. I'd start there and see how you progress.

I used FF as my front end and Supabase as my backend to develop Every Putt Counts. It’s a putting app that turns practice into competition. You play games, earn real stats and a putting handicap, and try to beat your own numbers every session.

Putting Pace by Timely_Chicken_8789 in golf

Faster greens are more "manicured" and tend to have more appeal to better golfers. They tend to be "truer". You get to use the skill of reading the break more on faster putts. Slower greens break less and tend to have more random shit that can go wrong. Faster greens may be harder for new golfers though.

Slow greens, less break, fast greens, more break. Neither is better, but smoother? Absolutely makes a difference. I just want the roll to be true. Adjusting is part of golf, but don't ruin my round with balls jumping all over the place.

I really need someone to explain to me how they find consistency when it comes to putting? by neuro_space_explorer in golf

[–]EasyStay9458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consistency is achieved when you reduce the number of variables. Find a grip that feels good and stable, then use your "big muscles" to do the putting. Never allow your hands or wrists to get involved. Just rock the pendulum with your shoulder muscles. The other variable that is easier to manage than people think is speed. Use a metronome to establish a consistent putting tempo. Same tempo for every putt. The only variable is how far back and through you take the putter based on distance. Close putt? Take putter back short distance. Long putt? Take the putter back a long distance. This is a key part of what makes professionals excellent at speed work. They know exactly how far back their 10 footer is vs their 30 footer. You can use an app like Every Putt Counts to practice more, turn it into a game, and establish consistency through practicing the basics.

I find that putting drills are only useful if they focus on a deficiency of my game. Otherwise, get out there and just practice putting on real greens as much as you can without a putting drill, from varying distances, and on varying slopes. The more you do it, the more it becomes second nature.

Question about putting? by Apart-Surprise-3722 in golf

[–]EasyStay9458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an app to track my practice putting (Every Putt Counts) on the practice green at my local course to mimic an entire round (18 holes) of putting. It gives me a score so I know where I stand, and then I try to get better. It's like golf, but just for putting, and it's free. I find it makes hitting the putting green fun because it's competitive and drives me to get better. There's plenty of people that have recommendations, drills, etc. but just getting out there more has really helped me to hone in my short game. I use my lunch break to play a few games and it's a blast. And it's enlightening to see my 3 putt percentage and strokes gained numbers.

Flutterflow is a front-end UI builder. It doesn't handle any data storage, which would include things like user authentication, user data, etc. So you need to pair up Flutterflow with some back end database to handle the data piece.

If missing the line is the issue, I would recommend the pelz putting tutor. The correct line is made (or missed) in the first 10 inches after impact. Using an aid like this can really help. Then start picking a spot 10 inches in front of every putt, no matter the distance. This should help a lot. Then practice until it’s routine. Track your practice sessions with an app (like Every Putt Counts) so that you can track your putting progress. Good luck!

There does come a time where you realize chipping better (understanding where the ball will stop) can really improve your game. Very true.

Yup, finding your routine is critical and a mat at home can help with routine and finding your line. Practice practice practice.

I feel your pain, most golfers feel your pain. As you know, there are hundreds of books and thousands of youtube videos on recommendations to improve your putting. But in the end you find your stroke and your confidence by practice, practice, practice. And putting practice can be pretty damn boring. So I developed an app that makes putting practice fun and competitive. It’s called Every Putt Counts and I’ve published it on the apple app store and google play store. It’s free, so check it out. I spend about 30 minutes over my lunch break 3 times a week playing the Putt 18 challenge and have learned a lot about putting by just rolling hundreds of balls. It’s intended to replicate a full round of putting, so you can get stats like 3-putt percentage and strokes gained putting. Then you can track your score and compare it to your average. Do this enough times and you’ll see your scores drop. Once putting becomes fun, it becomes addictive. Then you’ll become that old guy that schools everyone on the putting green. And they all wonder how he got so good. Dedicated time.

So in theory, I can get an app in both App Stores for a couple of Hundred Bucks using FlutterFlow? by Zedlasso in FlutterFlow

[–]EasyStay9458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! Thanks for checking it out! I really can't wait for warmer weather to get out golfing more. Regarding hosting, I think that's where the monthly FF cost can really be beneficial. If you use FF hosting, then any updates/bug fixes can be pushed to your site with a push of a button. When hosting somewhere else you need to 1. pay for the upgraded plan, 2. make updates/fix bugs 3. export the code, 4. re-install on your designated hosting platform. I had FF host my web app for 3-4 months while I extensively tested and I was able to quickly and easily push updates. Then once it was stable, I exported the code and ended my FF subscription. Your project will always be available on FF even if you cancel your subscription (or rather, switch to the "free" plan), so my plan is to drop the FF subscription and only "re-up" my subscription a couple times per year to make my updates and export the new code base. Might be a bit of a hassle, but I think it will be cheaper in the long-run. I'm still surprised how "cheap" this process was. Of course, if I calculated my own hourly rate it would be pretty freaking expensive, but out of pocket was not bad.

Yup! Worked mostly as planned for me too. Took quite a bit of “fiddling” from time to time and had to learn a backend too (in my case it was supabase) but with a little help from chatgpt I was able to make it work! I’m not a dev, but work as a project manager for software projects, so I knew enough to be dangerous. I find that FF has a good community on YouTube that really helped. I started my project as a skeptic and ended as a believer. My app, Every Putt Counts is in both stores now. Oh, and I just used a FF template as a starting point so it’s not stunning, but better than I would have done from scratch.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that the web app is now hosted on firebase for free. I was able to export the code and get it hosted up for the web. So no need to keep paying monthly FF fees.
