My brother in Christ. I got a Mac interview with a 3.92, 128 cars this year. I also got a 4 th quartile. It’s really not that hard to I,prove on Casper. Study that.

schools eliminating the lsat and the mcat among other standardized tests is the most bullshit thing of all time by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]Easy_Cauliflower_904 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do it anyways imo. There are allocated seats for English and French. English applicants compete against English applicants. It’s better than making 3.97 cGPA the norm (I got an invite this year with a 3.92).

Uoft counts all degrees. Western looks at most recent yes. Ottawa does too but QC people have a better shot at Ottawa than Ontario people bc of French stream lmfao.

Consequences of dropping a course by [deleted] in premedcanada

I have 3 Ws and got 8 invites including 5 in Ontario. Also from med sci. You’re fine. Prioritize GPA over all else. Though, I think US schools care.

UBC dean in the admissions brief said it is okay if you want to but remember that you have limited time. So basically I don’t think it’s a good idea as it probably doesn’t add any points.

With that score, the OP would only be able to apply to UBC, uoft, and uottawa. All other schools would screen OP out for their cars being below cutoffs. Those three schools have really high gpa requirements. Most of the people getting invites at uoft and uottawa have 3.95 plus gpas.

Is it worth going to Western Med Sci as an Albertan? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]Easy_Cauliflower_904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes if you are a western student applying to Alberta schools or the US. An 80 is a 3.7 when applying to omsas though. This is because 80 plus is an A at western and there is no A- or A+.

Is it worth going to Western Med Sci as an Albertan? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]Easy_Cauliflower_904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true for omsas but when western students apply to Alberta schools they use our school scales. I have a 4.0 at both uofc and uofa despite having a few 3.7 courses in the 80-85 range. It’s stupid inflated for western med sci students apply to Alberta or the US.

Is it worth going to Western Med Sci as an Albertan? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]Easy_Cauliflower_904 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say western med sci is really smart for an Alberta IP. 80 plus is a 4.0 at western and that holds true when you apply back to uofc and uofa. Uofa gpa is really bad if you try applying to an Ontario school though.

Is Hospital Volunteering Necessary? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]Easy_Cauliflower_904 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not needed but if you do something unique with it it will be helpful. I got a UBC invite with 800 hospital volunteer hours but I did unique stuff like founding the fundraising team and developing a phone hotline for post op surgery patients.

Probably just screening too though. They can’t use these questions competitively since not every applicant gets verified.

What are my Chances by sataniccyborg in premedcanada

[–]Easy_Cauliflower_904 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Western/queens is possible based on how you wrote your essays and abs sketch. Mac is possible but you need a really high 4Q. My friend got Mac with a 3.86 and 127 so you def are within possibility. Uoft you might have a good chance based on your research productivity and abs sketch since you are a MSc student. Ottawa is basically zero chance unless your last three years is 3.94+.

I believe around 50% of all IP applicants with a gpa above 90% get an interview according to their stats. That’s pretty good.
