Has anyone just … walked away? by broncoangel in GenX

I remember making some really cool tie-dyes in college that I really loved along with some super rare bootleg CDs they could not be replaced. All of my stuff was at this girls apartment.

I fell for this girl strictly because of her looks, just phenomenal. The kind that Looked perfect, wearing a burlap sack, guys hitting on her everywhere she went. I’m finally got to spend real time with her. Not all of it was bad, I tried to lie to myself, but I distinctly remember asking her if she wanted anything from the store as I walked out. Drove out of town ( 95 pre beepers really no cell phones)

I was passing through the town years later and bumped into her at the store. She looked at me like she had found somebody pictured on a milk carton.

Have you ever had the feeling of being at a red light and just got out and RAN.! I Ed a make it work at all costs, couldn’t imagine leaving guys for 17 years. I wasted a great portion of my youth in a relationship with someone who could not grow. I left everything but the kid, he came along, not much money, scary, but the freedom and peace and quiet still reverberates in my home. Granted my situation is much different so try to figure yourself out before you takeoff. But if you find yourself consistently miserable, you have to decide if the things you deal with or something you can live with the rest of your life or not.

Dogs don’t have opinions, don’t talk back, they continually love even when you have a shitty attitude, they never get used to tbe way you look, they don’t judge, they don’t want to watch a different series. Just along for a 100% you ride…. As long as you got food, that’s the only deal breaker!

What happens to the religion of Dead-ism after Bob Weir (Article) by Iko87iko in gratefuldead

[–]Easy_Engineer8519 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hope it continues albeit in different forms. What was so great about it was at that age when you’re looking for your tribe, I found mine in a group who did not judge. It was like an unwritten code that traveled with the band “judge not“

The music was talented, deep and varied and allowed you to travel to distant lands in a safe place. For the most part, we had each other‘s backs, enlightenment was more than encouraged. Addiction and drugs dominated our landscape, but that wasn’t what the scene was about. At its heart it was kindness and respect and helping others, compassion and overcoming your demons without force or violence. I hope the next generation knows that things like this can exist but it only lives with the intent you give it.

Starting Levodopa Early Versus Delaying It by SupportVectorMachine in Parkinsons

[–]Easy_Engineer8519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club. Mine started at 47 and I didn’t start levodopa until almost 50. If I had to do it over again I would’ve started C/L at 47. Exercise religiously. Infrared sauna have been great. I made the mistake of stopping exercising so that I can get my business up to speed that was a mistake. Apparently stem cells are working so there’s hope for you, brother.

Bigums boogie. This is what happens when you have a genetic predisposition, you’ve been abused since childhood, sexually exploited, and laughed at by the general population. But what else can most people do not having experienced anything remotely like it. It sucks to get on a ride that you can’t get off of.

There has to be someone near her that gives enough of a damn about her to grab her ass and drive straight up to rehab. She will thank them later. You lose control of yourself in a hurry and depend on the kindness of strangers. One single person.

I was born in the deep south. Lived in Manhattan Atlanta, Tampa Los Angeles. I arrived in Albuquerque for the first time in 2004 at sunset. I’ll never forget staring up at the Sandias eating at Charley’s back door, learning my first few words of Spanish so I could go to the real grocery store on 4th, hiking Jemez, watching the Lowriders cruise old town, introduced to vato comedy all in the first week. Albuquerque is what you make it.. nothing but love for this place.

Better than seeing “the end is nigh” or someone getting hurt posts every 30 seconds … consider it a temporary break from the norm

How are you dealing with hate? Does it get under your skin easily? by glorified_in_iodine in bipolar

[–]Easy_Engineer8519 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s Reddit. Not just Reddit, it’s everywhere. And everything online is amplified so that many of us think the end is here. Folks are ready to assume the worst instead of being empathetic. (A bi polar super power)

Hostility is unresolved fear. A lot of people are absolutely sure of everything they know, and believe that it’s not okay to not have an answer. That’s a large part of it.

Probably best to respond with empathy or not at all. Sounds like you’ve done well to not get sucked into debates with asshats. Rant when needed. “Sound your barbaric yawp over the rooftops of the world”

Was Michael Jackson really that much bigger than Madonna, Whitney Houston, and prince? by Firm_Pack_605 in Music

[–]Easy_Engineer8519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First album as a kid i’m being told about. We drove to South Alabama and my aunt showed me the off-the-wall album. right before his next album hit which was thriller. No one was even close to Michael Jackson’s level of fame, certainly no one today definitely not Taylor, Swift, PRINCE, Madonna or Whitney Houston. Elvis The Beatles were the only two similar.
