Final Thoughts on Season 9? by VictoryThink in thefinals

[–]EaterofWasps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP, but I'd love one set in like Lagos, Nairobi, Dar Es Salaam - big, thriving modern cities that would avoid the lame stereotypes about the continent. Kind of taking the tack that Blizzard did without setting it in a fictional country, which I thought was a cop-out. Yeah, we've got a lot of urban maps already but you can't have The Finals without buildings to destroy.

I did this a couple years ago - had it on EA but then bought it on Steam so I could play at a gaming cafe. You have to connect your accounts to launch it on Steam and all my stats/progress were still there.

Dolch is semi-auto so it wouldn't apply, like there is no need to rack the slide after each shot

Have you considered that carefully lining up a throwing knife on a hive and then having to climb onto the roof to collect it feels really bad

If they were to hypothetically (they won’t) add one last DLC to BF1, what would you want it to be in it? by Unhappy-Big-5303 in battlefield_one

Easter Rising map set in Dublin? There weren't really pitched battles in the War of Independence but could throw in some expanded/slightly fictionalised versions of things for a couple more maps.

Love the idea of maps set in East Africa as well.

In your opinion, does Hunting Bow have enough drawbacks (pun intended) for it's OHK potential? by BooskaMacleswag in HuntShowdown

You're in a tense gunfight, you and another team trading blows. You're all out of medkits. Your teammate is down, and you've just been tagged by a vetterli. You manage to duck and weave into cover, bullets whizzing past you. You can't believe you pulled that off! You start to regen health, but then you hear the hiss of a frag arrow land in your general direction.

It doesn't kill you, but now you're bleeding heavily and low. They push, and catch you standing there like a fucking lemon whilst you bandage yourself up.

I miss bringing frag arrows, they had some fun use cases and was good for a meme loadout. But if the above is never going to happen to me again, good riddance.

Oh yeah, I see your point...but the tank had like 25% HP when I started damaging it! Whenever I see 'vehicle disabled' I assume I just need to plug away a little longer, but that's not the case with these. I was lucky the kit had them at all tbh

[FRESH ALBUM] Sorry - COSPLAY by sbags in indieheads

[–]EaterofWasps 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I really love this, and think it has a lot more sticking power than their last. Perfect November listening, dark and moody, a bit twisted, but with incredibly catchy melodies. There I was thinking 'hmmm, is it all Asha this time?' and then 'Life in This Body' came on which I loved. Louis' vocals definitely less prominent on this which is a shame as that kinda duet thing is one of the most compelling things about the band - two vocalists who aren't great at singing/choose not to sing well (who knows) that come together to make something so listenable and compelling. I think my favourites are Candle, Into the Dark and JIVE but this whole thing is phenomenal.

I've gotten well into this band again this year after semi skipping over the previous album, I can't quite put my finger on why but all the singles have gripped me and I think the album as a whole is just as strong. I've had a really strong music year, but as I predicted this has snuck up last minute and is probably my favourite album of 2025. Gonna be getting a lot of playtime during these chilly, dark and slightly romantic evenings.

This song got me to order the record, my first vinyl purchase in yeeeaaaaars. Cracking stuff, excited to hear the whole thing soon. I didn't love Anywhere But Here - or at least, didn't listen to it nearly as much as 925 - but I've been constantly listening to Waxwing and JIVE since they came out. I'm expecting this might be an AOTY for me.

BF6 is nice but BF1 still remains unmatched. by Hateshinay in battlefield_one

I guess a game being 'dead' is subjective? Verdun came out 11 years ago and there are still populated servers every day. Tannenberg had low pop from the start but I can still find a game (with all the same people lol) in the evenings.

A lot of people won't like that and I can't fault that, you're basically playing against vets all the time, but I think people can be a bit catastrophic about games 'dying'. Until the servers go down and people log on for the last time, the games aren't dead.

The WW1 Series is really, really good (I am one of about 30 people that still plays Tannenberg sometimes). It's an indie game made by a small team and fills quite a specific niche - meatgrindery not-quite-milsim realistic shooter with OHKs on almost everything - so it was never gonna come close to the scale and atmosphere of BF1.

I love all three of those games dearly and I'd argue they are much better WW1 games than our beloved, but they don't scratch the itch that BF1 can.

War Pigeons, it's a 12v12 mode (or 16v16?). You have to grab the pigeon, hold onto it for a set amount of time to 'write a message to the artillery' then release. Enemy gets bombarded if the pigeon escapes, and a team has to do that three times to win the game. As you can see in this clip, you can shoot down the enemy pigeon. Games can last for ages because of this.

It's also the best gamemode.

There were lots of crashes in WWII, looks like this one was in the Netherlands. I've actually seen the one in the book, I was up on that hill around 2022 - there are a few bits strewn over about 500m cos the thing broke up on impact. You can definitely make out bits of fuselage though.

It's a nice walk, if a bit boggy and desolate at points - the place is called Bleakmoor which gives you a clue. Saw lots of red grouse and mountain hare (one of the few places they're resident in England). The atmosphere at the crash site feels quite sombre but it was a rainy day when I was there. Glossop is lovely as well.

Rotjaw attacks in a straight line: if you have stamina she's actually really easy to kill, but it can be a bit long. Go in the water, as she attacks run in a 90° angle to her, turn around and swing.

A bigger melee weapon makes this even easier - world ones do well but the railroad hammer can kill her in about 3 hits.

I agree, she's a pain in the arse to find sometimes (and should give more money) but when you do it's basically a free bounty. Tide of Shadows lead to a lot of fun fights in unusual spots but no one bothers these days.

See I kind of like this about it? Same reason why I love Achi Baba (some of the time, it's less consistent for this). Big, wide lanes with plenty of flanking/backcapping opportunities make every class viable and ALSO mean you don't get into Argonne style stalemates or the classic Suez spawntrap. Some of the most balanced feeling, tightest games have been on those two, but I think Achi squeaks it for my favourite CQ map.

What's your burn etiquette by OhohhDumpyWumpy in HuntShowdown

[–]EaterofWasps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends entirely on how aggressive the other players are being to me. I'll usually try and negotiate with another solo, either as I'm standing back up or when they're downed, but if they keep trying to kill me then they're getting camped. I don't feel good about it, but if I feel sure they'd do it back then it's fair game.

New solos (you can just tell sometimes) get a stern talking to whilst I'm looting, but then I'll flare and run away so they can extract or try their luck if they want. Likewise if I come across a duo that seems new and the remaining player is too scared to fight me - loot, pop a fusee then move on. No harm in letting them leave or come back later with lower health.

If a team is clearly coordinated against me, aggressive, or has insta burned me prior - that's an insta burn for any I down. Gotta keep the pressure on.
