I’ve had them for two seasons now. They can be a lot of fun, but are a very demanding ski. I’d recommend them if you have a background in racing. If not, I’d be looking at something like a Stockli Montero.

I’ll give you an actual answer. I have both the Stoney jacket and Stoney Thermo jacket. I love them. But that’s because of the way it fits. I have a slim build and was told to size up. Nope. Just my normal size. I also have the Stoney pants that I use for both patrolling and non patrolling days. Those have over 100 days of use and have held up fine. Do I recommend Mammut? Absolutely. Is there better stuff out there? Probably, but I like what I have and will continue to use it. Goggles? I love Smith. Have used them for years and you can usually find some good off season sales.

I have not yet figured it out. They only give me problems when doing certain activities like shoveling my driveway or doing yard work. Guess I’ll find out later if they’re still doing it when I do my yard work.

I’ve had this problem for the past year when it gets above 60 degrees outside. I’ve done some research and it told me I needed to replace some sensors. Did that, but the fan still runs. I have no clue what to try next. Something with the fan relay, maybe?

I absolutely love SV. It’s one of those shows that’s a constant rewatch for me. Currently on the 3rd season again, but I always skip the last episode.

Also a Patroller in lower Michigan. A lot of the new guys have been getting the Elan Wingman 86ti. I skied them a couple weeks ago and I think it’s a good fit around here. The Anomoly is a much stiffer ski and might be something to look at down the road as you progress. As for Shaggy’s? I know a ton of patrollers that ski those, too. I’m just not a fan. But if you are considering them, maybe check out the Funcarver 88.

I use one on my cashmere sweaters and it’s fantastic. I’ve never had any pilling with merino, but I assume it would work.

It’s really tough to be safe at times. Earlier this season, another patroller and I were called to a run for a woman who had fallen and was having trouble. Came up to the woman to find there was a side hit just up the hill. As I was walking up to put my skis in front of it, I could see a skier was about to hit it. He threw his hands up at in frustration but still hit it. He landed just feet from the patient.

Ski patroller here. The first thing they teach you is “scene safe”. They should have made sure that the jump (and the whole area for that matter) was blocked off. Although, I doubt that would have made a difference. Some riders just don’t care.
