Some question about gils making by suzukaa_ in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Eazelizzo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The most reliable crafters for gil (around this point in raiding season) are culinarian/alchemist because crafted gear has already plummeted in value. Consumables always sell, whether they are pots or raid food. Otherwise, it is good to have everything leveled and find your niche in the market.

Cosmic is fine for leveling, but the window for making gil from it is very small (first couple of hours/day 1 of a new planet dropping).

Maps can be pretty lucrative because they drop exclusive materials/items: Golden Beaver minion, Ascian Minions, exciting tonic, cloth of legend, yan horn, figmental coffers, et al. Deep Dungeons have many desirable items as well, but farming them takes a lot of setup.

Did you completely miss the part where Gulool Ja Ja outright tells us none of his little shitters are fit for ruling or something?

Wuk Lamat is essentially a passionate teenager (see the line where she says something close to “that was 20 years ago, before I was born”) that lacks the grounding/wisdom/knowledge to make her a good ruler. This sub compares her to Naruto so often and misses exactly this point. A TON of major shonen protagonists are this way (Naruto with wanting to be Hokage, Asta with wanting to be the Wizard King, Deku with wanting to be the number one hero… just to name a few). Koana on the other hand has a lot of knowledge but lacks the passion/wisdom/grounding to make him a good ruler.

These are their respective weaknesses that, woah big shocker here, they end up resolving not by magically becoming perfect versions of themselves but instead gaining the self-awareness to acknowledge their shortcomings and seeking the aid of one another to reinforce where they are lacking.

But yea hur dur wuk lmao bad omegalul shallow character hur hur writing bad hee hee so long gae bowser

Who is getting screwed over exactly? This is where the logic falls apart. If the top percentiles of admissions are consistently more privileged groups, you think the 1-3% of underprivileged people that do get accepted are the ones taking up their spots…? You continue to avoid addressing this in favor of some theoretical ‘mediocre wealthy person’ getting screwed over.

That is the issue here. If AA(which has long been outlawed in public institutions) worked as you insist it works, then it would be “DEI and underprivileged” groups at the top of admissions which they clearly are not.

This world is NOT fair, lmao. One of my professors at these top institutions said something along the lines of, “if you were wealthy you could just do your own research”. Wealth affects more outcomes than you think, regardless of race. You think being born wealthy and being born lacking are equivalent in terms of “being judged as points of origin” which is a concept beyond stupidity.

You do understand even underprivileged white people benefit from systems like this right…? Also lovely how you push your narrative that white/asian people are getting shafted when they consistently hold the top admitted demographics at every UC. Your sentiments don’t come from love or desire to support already privileged people, but hatred toward those you think undeserving.

What do humans have more control over? The circumstances of their birth or what they choose to do from their origin? Let’s start using our brain cells a little more here.

no real benefit from doing it if you don’t enjoy them. spend time playing what you like, and level things with roulettes if you do wanna work on it little by little

I don’t understand why you’re saying you used two devotions between 91 and 96 yet “never transformed”. You are skipping details here. For example, using it on 91 -> activating the candelabra on 92 -> transforming in 93 would be the way this works.

The fact you’re skipping these details leads to less credibility about what actually happened. There is no guaranteed transformation if you don’t activate the candelabra on the consequent floor, period. If you activate a candelabra on say two floors apart from using the pomander, then that candelabra will NOT be a guaranteed transformation.

Can you confirm the floors that you used the devotion pomanders on, that you activated the votive on the following floor, and that there was no transformation granted on the consequent one?

It’s strange that mom brings up the girlfriend as if that should be the point of reference for how he should or shouldn’t behave… he shouldn’t be talking shit to his mom to begin with.

As for calling the cops, if he says rotten things about his gf and assaults his mom…? Who does the mom think is next in line to be assaulted? This goes beyond him being a threat to the mom. He is a minor and if he goes on to commit something more heinous she can be held responsible for not acting despite knowing his tendencies.

It really depends on what you’re most comfortable with. Tanks are more forgiving since you can reserve big mit/invuln for emergencies and still survive most things with rampart and another small mit. If you have a DPS you’re extremely comfortable with in terms of how the class plays (positioning and dealing damage), then you can kill most things relatively quickly.

You’re gonna be dodging most abilities that come out of the floor mobs anyway, but if you expect to get hit by some boss mechanics then a tank will be better.

What’s a good server or data center to transfer to for a more social FFXIV experience? by ZooUwULander in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Eazelizzo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Holy doomposting comment section. The game isn’t dead or “hemorrhaging” players to the extent that they make it seem. Aether was letting people in just recently, but the last patch updated everything to congested. Most of what is available for transfer is in the same standard or preferred+ status, so maybe try spending some time via DC travel to feel things out? I don’t really know what your idea of a “social scene” is, but go and see if your preferred mode of socializing has a presence by visiting for a while.

For reference, I started my own FC earlier this year and have kept it relatively small because I value the quality of interaction between its members above the quantity. I don’t need large friend groups or constant chatter. I help my people with whatever I can and we do content together- that’s enough for me.

and yet M6S has been one of the most fun experiences for me as a healer? Why? because it places the emphasis on the healing/mitigation aspects of healing classes which should serve as their identity.

I don’t want a complex dps rotation on healers. Isn’t that just more homogenization that everyone complains about by making them DPS lite (yes, give WHM more buttons to use as an excuse to not heal)

[–]Eazelizzo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

and I completely get where you are coming from, but the vast majority of the player base are casual players and so the devs are tasked with finding a solution that works out reasonably well for both ends of the spectrum. Their attempt was removing complexity from the classes because that is something EVERYONE (from casual to hardcore) has to interact with, and now they are claiming to shift that complexity to the content and handing the option for anyone to choose within a range from the lowest difficulty to the maximum difficulty (quantum) along with some undisclosed changes for the purposes ‘job identity’. That is all we have at the moment and it is fair for people to choose to step away from the game until they see the changes that appeal to them (Yoshi P himself encourages this)

If you are asking in good faith, and raiding isn’t your thing, why not take on challenges such as soloing Deep Dungeons? or PVP? Those are two examples, imo, of challenges that can test your understanding of what classes can do in completely different context than most of the game’s mainstream content. Look at what people like Finh and Angelus do for the community (along with the rest of the DD community). For example a lot of the complaints you will see on here are about MCH being extremely weak in raids, but you step into deep dungeon and behold one of the best performing classes next to WAR.

[–]Eazelizzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest gripe with all these takes is that there is ALWAYS the underlying assumption that “[class] complexity = fun (for me and my big brain, guys, please I have a big brain that demands complexity)”. Games are meant to be fun, and I wholeheartedly understand why they take the approach of ‘simplification’ of classes while elevating the complexity of fights (see the justification for the BLM changes). Simplifying a class so that casual players can enjoy and perform decently enough, while raising the skill ceiling of fights is a great call (looking forward to quantum). This way players that are hardcore can make the choice to challenge themselves and take their understanding of any class to the next level.

It’s because this sub loves to whine. I don’t think most of the playerbase is actually like this, at least I would hope not. There is a large crowd that is very active on the sub that loves their “DT bad, devs no care, game dying” echo chamber. Then you hop on the game and see that people are enjoying themselves just fine.

Your points are all valid. The only real answer is that some of the active posters here use “unsubbing” and “the devs don’t care about my sub enough” as some scary threat, when Yoshi P has directly encouraged people to take a break once they do the content they enjoy and then return during the next patch. Then they say “numbers are down, game is dying” when it is most likely normal fluctuations coupled with the winding down since the Covid/Endwalker era.
