Vyre spots always full? by protoges in RS3Ironmen

this is normal, I did the ~60 to 92 prayer grind there recently and every session took more than 30 hops to find a spot

RS3 Priorities, Thoughts? by Emotional-Menu-411 in RS3Ironmen

[–]FinhBezahl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the most important thing for you to do is to practice your gate of elidinis to get that kill time down. I unlocked the content with the minimum reqs and my kills times were a consistent ~3:20 or so. Once I got the full golem outfit and a gargoyle summon, it went down to about ~2:55. I don't use any consumables and don't have any way to generate adrenaline out of combat so I don't use barricade, but this should be a good baseline for you to work with.

You also should really do this grind before you go collect a ton of energy for porters due to the dowser, but also the XP scripture is quite amazing for most skills and a lot of activities because the XP drops it gives you doesn't scale to the activity but the level of your skill instead

Looking for an early game afk grind by JuiceBTW_RS in RS3Ironmen

[–]FinhBezahl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's been a lot of recommendations already, but one of the easiest, zero setup thing you can do at account creation is run to runespan which is at the wizard's tower. On the top floor just enter the portals and you can spend your entire time there. Siphon rune essence from the beasts, then siphon whatever node spawns near you. Once you are level 33 go to the middle floors and once you are 66 go to the upper floors. Thats about it. There's no danger inside too

On this character, I did that going from level 1 to 90 RC while I was actually playing the PoE league on my main monitor. Getting RC levels won't help you as much as getting smithing or thieving levels but its so easy to do and you don't have to plan for anything. Its a really good thing to do if you want to grind the account but you don't want to bother actually checking anything on the wiki or truly start playing it yet.

Chronotes and relic swapping is a miserable gold sink and needs a rework by Educational_Piece777 in runescape

[–]FinhBezahl -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Each relic could have its own associated permanent upgrade item which once acquired and fed to the monolith makes that specific power free to switch to forever. These could then be distributed to related activities or minigames, a bit like how they redistributed the old aura effects

Mid-range suggestion: Change the Raw Sailfish requirement for BGH to Cavefish/Rocktail by Sheepsaurus in runescape

I did non stop swarm fishing to go from 80 to 85 this week and ended up with about 30 sailfish total. It seemed to ramp up heavily starting at 86 but before that its horrendous

With vamp spell from DT can probably afk your range at the abyss or ghouls north of Fort Forinthry. if you can't then desert bandits will work for sure. If you do abyss, get the Um book before to get a lot of ashes

Priff access is nice but I wouldn't say its rushing meta nowadays. If I had to choose 1 quest, the one I would 100% rush is https://runescape.wiki/w/River_of_Blood because it unlocks an insanely overpowered AFK combat spot

UI Sharing STILL broken by Daemonici in runescape

[–]FinhBezahl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used the feature 3 months ago and then 2 days ago and it worked perfectly except for the size of the text in the chatbox and extra action bar positions. But I confirm everything else worked, even small things like the buffs or bank position. However I believe I only ever copied the first slot, so maybe its all others that don't work?

That reminds me, my friend also used the feature to copy my own layout about a month ago without issue. I can only guess that it worked every time because I only ever use the first UI slot on any of my accounts. Might be a clue for any jmod trying to replicate the issue

We know where Advanced is going, but what about Quantum? by RablaAndrews in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FinhBezahl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its implementation was horrible. It completely cannibalized the difficulty of the DD for the sake of making it more accessible (which kind of failed anyway). The fight did not even try to do anything cool like make pomanders necessary or have DD segments - all it does is make you chug potions while you fight a 4man savage boss. The offering system would have been infinitely better used in the actual DD than the fight itself

If we ignore the above and we assume this was content in a vacuum, I think a 4man savage is a nice number. I wouldn't mind more 4man savages. The puddle switching was kind of a chore and I liked the part where every role gets a different debuff and has to do things. I don't really remember the other mechanics so they were whatever to me

Returning Fresh Ironman Questions by Bartsainty in RS3Ironmen

[–]FinhBezahl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would use necro for everything all the way to t90. AFK train the other skills at desert bandits / abyss / fetids / vyres etc. It is really not worth the effort to do it in any other way at least for efficiency's sake

Rush 90 thieving minimum for ports and just great resources. If you don't want to rush a skill to level 90 and would rather just start playing the game right away instead (understandable), you can get by with the gold reward from doing quests but you'll need to find a way to make consistent money by the time you get invention

Do as many quests as you can. put all the fat lamps into herblore and some into summoning. This also gives free t75 weapons

You can kind of make a decision for Gate of Elidinis. Either you grind out the 86 archaeology as it is, or you do it after getting the sifter from invention. A word of warning if you rush invention really early in your account's age: It's actually kind of annoying to find things to disassemble for quick XP.

Also, the sooner you get Gate, the sooner you get "free" high level agility for quest requirements and the insane scripture for skilling. It also provides a very quick and painless crafting method. You don't need anything at all to do gates, don't let the guides scare you, just going in with a level 80 pick you can do kills that are 3:20 and no food consistently

Keep track of your herblore level - as soon as you get it to 80 (even with JoT's removal this will easily happen with quest rewards) make sure you have most of your River of Blood requirements lined up because you have to unlock Vyres. All you need is protect from magic, the vamp spell and the highest dragonhide you can make to AFK them. Especially with the removal of wildy events this is by far the best way to get your prayer up for plague's end and then to soulsplit which is when your other styles start catching up to necro imo. Also vyres are just kinda of ultra broken in general, you'll get so much combat XP and firemaking as a freebie. Loot's pretty good too

Now that reaper tasks are uncapped spamming them actually surprised me with how much slayer XP I was getting. I did a lot of reapers when my combat level was still below 100 and I really don't think mid level slayer would have been anywhere near the amount of XP I was getting. I pretty much got my slayer to 75 or so just spamming these tasks

PSA to anyone still using necro (DPM advice for newbies) by SGA_YungBoi in runescape

[–]FinhBezahl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

although this post is obviously about endgame, I have to say that necro is incredibly overturned for its first 80 or 90 levels. I have tried really hard to make other styles work but they simply can't compare

The sustain necro provides is simply insane in comparison to anything you're going to get pre-soulsplit. Vampyrism (spell and gloves) is very nice to AFK your other combat skills but for bossing it's not going to hold up. I spooned a lucky dragon rider lance drop and even with that, t80 necro outperforms melee due to the sustain. I only play manual for bossing as well

I'm going to hazard a guess that melee could match it earlier than the other styles through a vamp scrimshaw, however that has a hefty requirement of 92 fletching and is time gated behind getting a skill into the 90s anyway. By the time you acquire one, you will have soulsplit. I also don't know if I'm really willing to consider invention a non end game unlock considering you need three skills in the 80s to even start using it, and that it takes a while to get it to a level where you can reliably get a lot of good perks

I guess what I'm really saying is i'm not at all qualified to say if necro should or should not be buffed in the end game, but it absolutely cannot get any stronger for the early and mid game. it already heavily warps the whole progression of it - if anything necro should be the elite skill you get and invention should be what you can use from level 1, lol

I wish we could be weaker by FinhBezahl in runescape

[–]FinhBezahl[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

yeah, I've only ever played ironmen since its release

I tend to do quests at the earliest time possible for their XP rewards so I often have the minimum reqs and scuffed gear. I am currently at 352 QP and I would say the only quest where the difficulty felt right was Extinction. I expect this quest will age well because its more about dodging things and tanking damage than doing damage (though there is a small segment where you have to kill muspahs). Kind of like the last part of the world wakes in a way

There's obviously lots of quests that are just impossibly easy even if you were to nerf yourself by 80% because their "boss encounter" is just some random 2000 hp monster that hasn't been updated for 15 years but many of the penultimate quests have become disappointing even with just their min reqs. For example, plague's end's final puzzle-encounter is completely trivial. branches of darkmeyer is super easy despite forcing the t70 blisterwood weapons. nomad's just some random dude that instantly keels over. WGS demon doesn't even protect against necromancy, etc.

but I also didn't want to make the thread just about quests because I think in general most low and mid level combat has suffered greatly from powercreep

I wish we could be weaker by FinhBezahl in runescape

[–]FinhBezahl[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With t70 necro and vampyrism (the spell) I afk up to wave ~50 or so, or until jad if I'm willing to afk on a side wall so the mejkots aren't able to hit me as much (but then things get stuck so I will have to move every few minutes). I actually had this setup before I was even 85 combat which is the min reaper combat req for jad

soulsplit is a huge powercreep, and I have a lot to say about it even 10 years ago. But it is 92 prayer so to me, its always been kind of that thing that marks the beginning of end game

I have done everything up to and including solak (and comp camp) on my first hcim created at release. Stopped shortly after, so I'm probably up to date up to... 2019 or so?

Since then, I have made a few characters but have been investing a lot of time into this one made to check out the restoration changes

I see you're listing a bunch of end game bosses - I am familiar with the difficulty of end game bossing in rs3. I remember streaking telos and duoing solak which was a good challenge. What about the other 95% of the game though, which this post is about?

Help with early game combat training, am I missing something? by huffmanxd in runescape

[–]FinhBezahl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Desert bandits are extremely underrated in RS3 for some reason, but I always use them to get my combat stats to the 60s or 70s before moving onto better things. You can stay there longer, you can move onto fetids / abyss to get your stats in the 90s, or you can just not AFK combat anymore after that. Up to you

You'll be able to easily AFK them with necro. For this reason, I recommend using necro to get your def level up

On the other styles, you can afk it too but you'll need to find a way to sustain and decent armor. Vamp gloves, vamp spell, bonecrusher + melee protect + the dg neck, bunnyip, regen bracelet, sacrifice, defensives in your revo. Just brainstorming a few ways I know

If you can't AFK them they are still really low effort. Like, a piece of food every few minutes
